1. Learn some tunes (preferably from a person or recording). 2. Play the tunes slowly and thoughtfully…as slowly as you need to not make too many mistakes. 3. Use a metronome! This is tedious, but learning to play in strict time will make your playing sound better quicker than any other single aspec...

"You might want to contact Mike Burke,(Michael Burke Pennywhistle, Co.)
he's in your area,"

...I believe Mike Burke is in Murphysboro, Illinois, but you still might want to check out his whistles.

Hi Jim (and others...), Do you have any suggestions for tunes (and whistle keys) for someone to try their hand at blues whistle?

Are there any good Web sites for sheet music for blues standards, or are most of them copyrighted?

Thanks for any info you might have.

Hi, Sindts are pretty good about having an easy playing 2nd octave and the old style Burke WBB whistles are too. I'm picking up a new modle Aluminum Pro-Session Burke today, so I"ll let you know how that is later. I also recently got one of the newer Tony Dixon whistles, and it has a fairly eas...

>Bretton, What's a condensed long roll?

It's a long roll played in the time span of a quarter note. In other words, a long roll played where you would normally play a short roll...just condensed in time.

It's a ornament/term Grey Larsen uses...I'm not sure if anyone else calls it that.?

Many of the things you're referring to as bubbles, pops, and chirps are probably cuts. They can sound quite different depending on which note you're cutting (and what finger you're lifting to cut) and if you're playing low or high notes. Articulating a note with a cut sounds different than throwing ...

I'm expecting an Abell around August/September and a couple of people have mentioned that it takes about 6 months or so of playing for an Abell whistle to really start sounding nice. If this is the case, what characteristics should I look for when I first get the whistle to determine if I've got a &...

I've been attempting to teach my daughter to play whistle since she was about 3 yrs. old. She's 5-2/3 now and just starting to get the hang of it. At 3 her attention span wasn't really long enough to do anything but blow piercing 3rd octave C#s.
