Vigopas as far as I can tell is no longer made although th...

Alternatively come to the festival at the Chateau d'Ars (Ex St Chartier) in July http://www.lesoncontinu.net/2014/en/index.htm in central France (Near Chateauroux) where there are 130+ makers of mostly bagpipes and hurdy gurdy's and hear and try many different types.

Re: Price estimation of a not playable Half-Set

1000$ (£630 Sterling) would be very reasonable and less than I charge for a practice/starter set and current half set price new is from £2000.00 (basic student set). Fees for servicing / repairing my own instruments are modest As regards health I am pleased to state that the cause of the allergy tha...

Re: Patrick Hennelly chanter

One of the most interesting features of Taylor [style] reeds, and little has been published on that aspect of them, is the fact they used a staple with an inverse taper i.e. it widened considerably towards the reed head quite opposed to the Rowsome school of reedmaking.

Re: Wanted: Chris Bayley Reed Dimensions

Chanter is Taylor based inside and out. Internally bore is narrow taper for about half it's length and then widens out towards the bottom to boost the volume. Tone holes although slightly larger than the narrow bore sets are smaller than the majority of concert chanters Reed as follows Staple: Cylin...

Re: Staple for Bayley chanter

It depends upon whether the chanter is based upon Matt Keirnan or Egan. The former uses standard KS 5/32" tube and the Egan a slightly tapered staple. I spin the latter up on the lathe using a tapered mandrel from the 5/32" (1/8" ID) tube from KS tube so eye end is 1/8" ID and ID...
