Re: terminology
Careless of me, I am sorry. I use the shortened word/name for purposes of being too lazy to spell it out entirely (not that it is a long word). I mean no disrespect. But I was only referring to the instrument and not the people of Pakistan. I am not an idividual who delights in slagging people of ot...

Re: Pakis
I'm not sure you really can protect an istrument design that has been in the public domain for as long as bagpipes have been (bellows blown or other) as a part of the human community worldwide. I am sure one can make a claim that their own particular twist on an existing idea can be protected, but I...

The latest Pakistani chanter has three keys, C nat, Fnat and G#. It really isn't as bad of an instrument as many folks have made them out to be (unless you take into consideration directly copying Lynch's design as stated above...and I am assuming without permission), and the set I have still plays ...

Re: Pakis
Yes, they bear remarkable resemblance to Lynch Pipes and I wouldn't doubt that that just may be the case. It is the opinion of Kieran O'Hare (and Kirk) that they are and according to Kieran, Kirk was somewhat less than pleased about it.
I found all of this out just a few weeks ago.

Re: Pakis...
I own a half set of these exact same pipes, they were my first set. And though they do not compare in the least with the works of art by master pipemakers, they are eventually playable, and more importantly, affordable to those who are interested in getting started on the instrument but not at the c...

Man, I just spent the last hour and a half composing a "Havard Doctoral Acceptance Speech" only to have it lost somewhere in cyberland. Bummer. Gary, it is very nice to see that you also monitor the C&F forum pages. Once your one-of-a-kind Ray Sloan pipes come in, take a ton of photos ...

Kelly's new Gallagher practice set.
Congratulations on the new arrival! By all means, lose the death grip. And while you are at it, keep from hunching your shoulders Because you will eventually experience some of the worst headaches known to mankind as a result of this 'hard to avoid' habit...trust me, I know where of I speak. Do not ...

Back to Boisvert...
Sooner or later (the later being the most likely), I am going to order a full set of concert pipes out of cocobolo from David. He shares a similar love for the beautiful depth and richness of the grain and burgundy splendor that is cocobolo. If I may make a suggestion to 'stlcurtain6n5', entertain t...

Re: Tommypipes
Tommy's reply sounds like something David would do...go out of his way to ensure customer satisfaction. Greenwood pipes are more than an instrument for sale, knowing David, they are more like his children that he is introducing to the world...if that makes any sense without getting to mushy. By the ...

Greenwood Pipes
I have known David for over twenty years and I consider him a man of great character and outstanding integrity. I am a full time medical student and if it weren't for being financially strapped at this the time, I would most certainly order a set of pipes from David without a second thought. He puts...
