Trying to Source Reeds
If anyone is willing to give a hand. I am desperatly trying to source some reeds. Both pipemakers in Australia no-longer seem to be making Uilleann pipes. Not sure if Adrean Geoffrey's is making pipes in Ireland though. The sittuation is this, I need new drone, regulator and chanter reeds, by Januar...

Here is a clip of Mikie Smyth (uilleann pipes) and Paula Regan (fiddle). It is from the ComhaltasLive program. The last jig is the "Trip to Athlone."

Grand Experimental Idea
Hows this for a thought? I've noticed rescently that some makers have been experimenting with G chanters lately. In particular makers such as Peter Hunter and Davey Stephenson. Davey or Peter, have you ever thought of producing a full set in G before. Even if it was just as a once of job? I'm not th...

Posted by Paul Reid: I have the H4 and it is absolutely incredible. I agree, for the size of the device, the sound quality of the recordings the device produces are amazing. This is a recording I made of myself. I recorded the track in the bathroom ;) to get a natural reverb on the recording. http:...

Make all the effort you can to attend. I went to one of his workshops in Melbourne this year and it was a great experience. He especially likes to debate and add his opinion to the philisophical argument on how the music should be played. Keenan is on the complete opposit side of the coin in compari...

I want first shout! Anyone care to help sponsor the restoration of this set. Any interest Ken McCleod? If I were to get the local conservatorium to perform the Brendan Voyage with me as the local soloist. Would you consider such a scheme as you did with the Legacy set? I could happily send you a com...

Sean McGuire - Piper as well?
Hi I remember reading an An Piobari article, and seeing Sean McGuire with a set of pipes. Was he a piper as well as fiddle? If this is the case does anybody have any old recordings of him playing the pipes. Of course there are plenty of recordings on fiddle; and they alone are worth purchasing a CD ...

Hi Lordofthestrings, If I where you I'd get the German and Italian violins and cellos priced and identified by a broker or musicologist. You could potentially be sitting on a gold mine. I'm guessing your market for those would be orchestras, conservatoriums etc. Hold onto those for later in retirmen...

This may interest you for archieval perposes. Here is an early film clip of the Furey's, not to sure of the reel being played though. I'm guessing it was recorded in the mid sixties sometime.

Tommy Reck's "The Scholar"
Hi I recall that someone had posted Tommy Reck's version of The Scholar on this forum a while back. From memory it looked like the forum member had hand-written it onto manuscrip and scanned it onto the computer. Does anybody know if this post still exists. I did a search but got no results. Cheers ...

Hi Docarrete Most here on this forum like to hear a sound clip of a set (although not neccessary). What are you asking for the C full set? I've always thought of going flat pitch. Here's me playing an air on my concert D McKenzie, how great would that sound in C? http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip...
