Re: Hope this is the right place for this.

After three months my left finger ill be as my right index is now.not flexible from the second knuckle forweard. From that knuckle to the fingertip the finger will be flat and rigid. I am able to play both recorder and whistle fine with it.

Re: Hope this is the right place for this.

I just looked at your signature, there are dulcimers in your collection. Are those your or Judy's dulcimers? And I must congratulate you that no matter what befalls you, you're planning to remain a musician. Hi..haven't had that question in a while :) I'm Judy. Cutterpup is my dog, my screenname an...

Re: Hope this is the right place for this.

Thank you all for the suggestions, i will be exploring them as the time draws closer. For the first six weeks or so my left hand will not be usable due to casting. After that it will only be the index finger out of commision. I have been through this with my right hand in 1999, but the fusion requir...

Re: Hope this is the right place for this.

I feel for you. I'm a big giant worrier and one of the things I worry about needlessly (at the moment) is which instrument I would play if something happened to some part of me. The harmonica is pretty friendly to playing without full use of your fingers. I know what you mean..my mother used to cal...

I've met whistlers with fingers missing or disabled who were great players.

Best wishes,

Just wondering that myself, when my righ index finger was done I couldn't.

Hope this is the right place for this.

I'm feeling really bummed. Arthritis in left finger (pointer) has gotten so bad it needs fusing. Once done it will mean 3 months of no whistle playing. I told him that the last fusion, other hand, had me out of playing for only four weeks. Apparently this one is a lot worse and I put off having it l...

WTB: Low D beginners whistle, closed..whistle found

Hi all. I've decided that I want a low D whistle. That said, I can afford only in the $80 range but can go up, within reason, for the right whistle. I have played recorder for years and high D whistle and am currently taking "celtic jam" classes. Do to my limited funds I'd prefer to get a ...

FS/FT: Mack Hoover Brass Low G whistle

I all I know I haven't been around for a few years but I've still been lurking and playing. I am refining my playing so that I can concentrate on playing one voice correctly. For this reason I have decided to sell the brass MH low g that i won in a C&F charity auction a few years back, #2513. I ...

very flute noob questions

Hi all. I bought a "mystery box" on ebay to get the bamboo and "pan type" flutes for my daughter and her boyfriend. Along with them came two instruments that I'm not sure are complete. The first is a simple sideblown flute made of wood, six hole-no keys) that appears to have been...

Ebay goody box arrived

Hi all. The box of mystery flutes arrived today. Among the goodies was a green topped Feadan high D whistle, a silver colored whistle with a black top and no name (high D) that is slightly narrower in diameter than my Gen D.

Actually my "other" dulcimer has a 6 1/2 and a 13 1/2 fret, the one I'm making just has the 6 1/2. I'm outside of Annapolis. One of my holiday gifts was a book of celtic tunes that has SMN in a good range for whistle and recorder as well as MD tab. I traded one of my tenor recorders (which...

Dulcimers have made me a better whistle player

Honest, it's true. I have been making a mountain dulcimer from a kit and being the type of person who gets immersed in things :) I picked up a copy of some wood working magazine that my husband had lying around and in it a guy was talking about how he made a point to practice just one type of wood w...
