Kathy Mattea
I hate to drop names, but when I saw Altan a couple of years ago in Nashville, Kathy Mattea was in the audience- as well as Sam Bush. Obviously, her recent music has been influenced by IrTrad. Likewise, modern Irish music is, I think, greatly influenced by traditional American music- Dolly Parton si...

Tunes for Harmonica
I've been getting back into my harmonica playing recently and, to add fuel to the fire, I just got a Suzuki Humming Tremolo G harp which sounds great on Irish tunes. Although many of the faster tunes, especially jigs, are very difficult to play, a lot of tunes, like reels, seem to work really well o...

Between the Hohner and Lee Oskar I'd choose the later for it's superior response, breath requirements, and the fact that the reeds are replaceable. For an excellent harmonica at a very good price, check out Suzuki. http://www.suzukimusic.com/harmonicas/Pages/home.html As far as I know, they don't se...

Chromatic harmonica advice
I've really been getting into Irish tunes on the harmonica lately, and I'm ready to try a chromatic harp. Does anyone have advice as to which key(s) are the best? I can only buy one right now, should I buy a 'G' or a 'D'?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Chromatic Harmonica questions
I've dusted off my harmonica playing in the last couple of weeks and I'm really enjoying it, especially trying to play reels and jigs. I know about the tremolo and octave harmonicas in Irish music, but does anyone have any experience with chromatic harmonicas? Specifially: how does the slide affect ...

Wanted:Used Hamilton or other inexpensive practice flute
I have a Dixon practice flute, in the key of D, which I like very much. I'm looking for a practice flute in a key other than D. I understand the Hamilton practice flute is tuned to G. Does anyone have a Hamilton or other used practice flute in a key other than D?
