HELP: stringing a Banjitar
I have a 6-string banjitar (banjo guitar) and I'm having trouble finding a good string-gauge configuration for it. Right now, it has the "Nashville" string setup on it, which is basically the top, or treble, set of a 12-string guitar. I don't like this setup because the 3rd and 4th strings...

I play some IrTrad but I most play American fiddle tunes and folk music You're right, StevieJ, I should've mentioned that in the outset, sorry! But, thanks for all the input, it's been very helpful. Now, does anyone have any recommendation for finding an A/D/G accordion? I'm looking at the Hohner C...

rh and Martin, tks. for your advice! I'm a harmonica player, and I guess I incorrectly assumed that the 'G' row would allow you to play some songs in 'D' in the same way a 'G' harmonica allows you to play a song in 'D' in cross harp. Having said that, would it make any difference if the rows were AD...

Choosing my 1st accordion
I seem to have developed accordion fever. I've played around with several over the years and I'm ready to acquire one. I've read the debates over the B/C and C#/D button accordions. I was wondering what would be the downside, or limitation, of the Hohner Pantera G/C/F model? http://www.hohnerusa.com...

Not Traditional, but fun: Irish MIDI files
I recently purchased the auto accompaniment program Band-in-a-Box and I've had a lot of fun and learned quite a few tunes playing with MIDI files. The great thing about MIDI files is that they're easy, and fast, to download and transpose to any key you wish. A good solution for those of us with limi...

Steve, thanks for the info. I really enjoyed reading your website and look forward to getting a copy of your CD, too! I totally agree about the D harp being high-pitched and a little squeaky- I've tried a Hohner Big River Low D, but I found the lower notes took a lot of air and didn't sound very wel...

Harmonica questions
I play guitar and mandolin, but I've also been getting into playing Irish and fiddle tunes on the harmonica. I really like wearing my 6-compartment harmonica belt and being able to reach down, while playing guitar or mandolin, and whip out a harmonica for a little solo. Right now, here's what I have...

Irish pub in Asheville, NC?
Hey all! My family and I are going to be in Asheville the week of Dec. 26 and I'd love to know if there are any Irish pubs there- especially ones that have live music or even sessions. Tks!!

IMHO, if the OP's going to buy these CD's with a credit at Best Buy it's going to be unlikely that they stock the older, more obscure Chieftans albums. A CD that they should have and that I would recommend, although I know I'll get flamed for doing so, is the album that first turned me on to Irish m...
