Thoughts on Alexander Karavaev Nightingale Whistles?

Does anyone have personal experience with/thoughts about this maker's whistles? I'm considering a Low F and possibly a Low D. I found some C&F forum activity from last year and prior, but couldn't find any reviews or discussion of how they play. There are a couple of Youtube videos, but again no...

Re: Quena Embouchure

I can't help you directly, but I can offer some advice. Get in touch with Tony Hinnigan . I've found him to be quite accessible and responsive when I've asked questions in the past. He seems eager to help and definitely has a soft spot for quenas and those that are interested in playing them. Mike H...

Re: Little Wing

Clapton's guitar solo on Sting's rendition of it (Nothing Like the Sun) is one of my all time favorites. I could have sworn that was Hiram Bullock on Sting's version. Clapton did work on the "Nothing Like the Sun" sessions but I thought his contribution was to "They Dance Alone"...

Looks like the £70 price is an intro that will go up to £129.

Re: Whistle Recomendations

Tyrone Head is going to be (to my knowledge) the only quality maker in your price range. He has some non-tunable models for $65. I have no personal experience with his whistles, but he is a C&F member and there have been some discussions in the past regarding his whistles.

Re: Low F recommendations

Phil Hardy has his Chieftain V3's in D, F, and G are on sale right now. They are about $120 shipped. The V3 D's have been on sale from time to time, but this is the first time I've seen other keys available at the that price.

Re: Cherish the Ladies coming to Madison, AL Dec 5!!!

Bummed that I had to miss it. I actually drove by BJHS about 6:45pm, but I was in mud covered clothes and on a dinner run for the family. For a split second I pondered going on in, but that would not have gone over well on the home front. I bet it was a great show!

Re: Cherish the Ladies coming to Madison, AL Dec 5!!!

Excellent! I'm hoping to make it to this one. It's not often that talent like this performs within walking distance of my house. Hey, murchmb.....did you get your ticket yet? :) Not yet. I still haven't determined if I'll be in town, but I plan on dragging the wife to this if we are. Otherwise, hop...

Re: What can happen if you do not clean a wind instrument.

My apologies in advance to the squeamish. After seeing this thread, I was reminded of a pic Phil Hardy posted on his site last year. A customer sent his whistle back due to a stuck tuning slide. The least of his worries IMHO! :o

Looks like an interesting project. If you make one in "A," you could call it a Toob-A. :D
