Redwood, Whitecap & Brass bands Hoover Review

Hey Folks, I was recently sent a redwood whistle from Mack to review. That's right, redwood. It caught my eye on his website. I was so impressed I thought I'd post a review. The picture of the Red(wood), White(cap) and Brass(bands) Hoover on Mack's website barely does it justice. It is beautiful, wi...

Hey Kar, Agree with Tom - Glendalough! What a place, knock-your-socks-off beautiful! If you're looking for a castle. Malahide Castle (8th century, I think) in north Dublin area (you can get a combined DART ticket for train fare and admission to the castle). Also New Grange north of Dublin, one of th...

Just saw CTL with Solas in Charlottesville at a Re-Imagining Ireland Conference (also Green Fields of America-Mick Moloy, and DeDannan).

CTL was terrific and so were the rest of the groups. Well worth seeing!

Joanie Madden plays the Traveler models. She told a story in concert how she ran over a bag of her whistles with a car. All of the wooden whistles were smashed, but the Travelers were unharmed.

Hey tkelly,

I would say go ahead and get on Pat O'riordan's waiting list. You've got nothing to lose and they are worth the wait!

Hey Martin, Actually its the American version of a grade school musical instrument (as opposed to a pennywhistle). I had one in the 4th grade (along with the rest of the class). We were given lessons on them, then performed for the school. I think it's keyed in Bb and it does have a pretty nice soun...

Hey Erik,

The answer to your question is obvious, to hold a piece of chocolate in the machine, you'd use marshmallows and 2 graham crackers.

Easy!

Hey Cran, Yep, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about many whistles but have never heard anything good about Coopermans (Coopermen?) Ditto exactly what Patrick said. The tin is barely playable and the wood makes a nice table decoration. The best thing I'd heard about a Coopeman on this board is tha...

Hey Touw,

Don't go away!! It's just that those of us with more history with the Whistle Shop in general and Thom Larson in particular know that he really is a good guy.

And I bet when this is all over you'll find that out too. You are correct however that we are all crazy.

Hang in there!
