Re: Thoughts on copper vs aluminum whistle

the green stuff on copper is usually carbonates with sulphides and chlorides - it happens pretty slowly under natural conditions and shouldn't affect the wood, any more than brass or bronze fittings would cause a problem. It's certainly not a growth in a fungal sense ;) But - do you remember the sm...

Re: What is "lipping up"?

I know that you can change the note on a flute by changing your embouchure or blowing at a slightly different angle to bring a note in-line. That can be lipping up. I dont believe that you can "lip up" a whistle. To do that, you would have to have a helluva pair of lips, capable of engulfi...

Re: eBay Flute

Judging from the psychopathy occasionally evidenced on the forums, there must be a number of closet animal abusers here. :D Of course, it can't hold a candle to the psychopathy on the mustard board, but they are grouchier over there in general.

This guy seems to be fairly safe, as the owl in question looks to be a Screech owl. However the finger could have a resemblance to a grasshopper or some other tasty item. It is not a good idea to stick your finger in front of the mouth of any hungry creature. You could pick up a painful nickname. :)

I just hope it will scare the sh*t out of a lot of people and they'll start living more within their means and more intelligently. Yeah. Like our government. How much money have they thrown away in Iraq?!? It would buy a helluva lot of gas and food. B@st@rds. --James Not nearly as much as the last ...

When I read the title to this thread, my mind was saying... surely that should be either "How NEAR is Ashville TO Boone" or "How FAR is Ashville FROM Boone"? Then I was reminded how in American parlance all distances are measured in driving time, not miles, though in fairness in...

As the effective intelligence level of the public continues to decay, you can expect to see more and more disingenuous advertising like this to pop up. There are a few of us who are getting more and more intelligent as the general population becomes less so. It is "we" who are marketing t...
