Which are the better gateway bands nowadays?
I've recently gotten into a position where it would be useful to be updated about some of the good ITM/ITMish bands nowadays, but having been out of listening to them for so long that I'm quite out of touch. Could anyone recommend me the stronger gateway bands for ITM these days? I know Flook has di...

Re: Wow. Gotta learn me some phpbb 3.
When I click "back" after reading a thread, I get a webpage expired notification and have to refresh if I want to go back to the forum I was browsing. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Hi Pat, I believe we're in agreement that as a piper its absolutely essential to listen to piping, and I would say the same for flute players listening to fluting, etc. The statement mentioned about listening to piping being no more important was a bit vague but I had meant that to be in the context...

Listening to piping as a non-piper gives a better, more holistic understanding of traditional Irish music and provide musical ideas that may be translatable to their instrument. But in this regard listening to piping is no more or less important than listening to any other melody instrument. As much...

I'm not sure how much they're going to help you in TKD, but these articles are generally pretty useful for a beginning gym goer. I wish I read them when I started out. http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding/training_for_newbies_part_1 http://www.t-n...

If I could go back to the topic of Ken McLeod's Kenna, can somebody could tell me what is the difference in character/construction between that chanter vs contemporary narrow bore D chanters as developed by Wooff et al.? I'm curious because in this discussion Peter and Pat Cannady mentioned that nar...

I think there are a bunch of fitness enthusiasts offering many unsubstantiated claims and anecdotes as to whether weight lifting / finger exercises helps with flute playing. Coming from a syantific background, I would take a lot of what is said in here with a generous sprinkling of ye olde NaCl as I...

The way I see it the issue has little to do with tempo, and everything to do with rhythm and phrasing (and the players who have not yet tackled those aspects well enough). It is not uncommon for players who have not developed a good rhythm in their playing tend to crank up the tempo to make up for i...
