Walton's Mellow D - still the same?

Hi fellow Chiffers, it's been a while since I've posted anything here. Alive and blowing:) I've a question: Does anybody know if the Walton's Mellow D has had a design change in recent years? Or is it still the same with its notoriously sharp bell note? Asking because I'd like to reproduce a tweak I...

Re: contemporary recordings of players with a more closed st

Mikey has been mentioned. Of the currently popular pipers, maybe Joey Abarta and Padraig McGovern fit the bill best.

Re: THE GREAT UILLEANN YOU-TUBE THREAD.

I enjoyed it as well. Thanks for posting this. Were there any difficulties with getting UP chanter and keyboard to harmonize well, considering intonation differences? No, not really. With a well-tuned chanter, even in JT, the harmonic frictions are manageable, as long as you stick to the pipes-frie...

Re: better inexpensive whistle that will go to intermediate

I've heard the Sindt takes little air. Did you find with the Sindt you could play longer phrases easier or just play a long time with less fatigue? It takes little air and it is an easy player throughout. My only gripe with it is its top-heaviness. The Sindt is a tamed variant of the Generation/Fea...

I recently sold my Sindt. And kept my chewed ol' Gen. My expensive High D is a Dixon Trad. Call me a sage if you want :D

Don't read too much into this. I was referring to the "retro" approach with less parts and no metal hinge.

Re: PM Opinion: J. Kennedy bellows vs A. Rogge and L. Thomps

I know both Rogge variants. The old-style Rogge bellows are great, but the new design is a step back and a step forward at the same time. Very straightforward, light as a feather and efficient. The outlet hose is angled differently, so the bellows attach firmer to the body and thus do never get in t...

Re: Are you getting any better ?

I feel I am still making progress these days, although seldom in a "planned" way. You try something different here and there and see what it does to your playing. I have a feeling my most "dramatic" (to me) improvements in recent years came from messing with pure basics like post...

Re: Looking for Geoff Wooff C drones+regs

As Steampacket says, why not try? Besides, I wrote that I am open for other suggestions, too.
@Rory: Well, my hopes aren't too high.
@Geoff: Thanks for the hint, I will take this into consideration. Might reduce the abundance of offers I have gotten so far (only joking).

Thanks for your thumbs-up, guys. Still open for suggestions. Patrick, you know I envy you, and if you weren't such a nice bloke and class musician, I would not hesitate to visit your home someday after dark with a nice crowbar :D
