Re: A funny thing happened on the way to the forum!

Being sort of "forced" to explain myself here I although I could, and. perhaps, should desist. I was referring to Dale's comment about losing poundage and for some inexplcable reason (or cause) I recalled the fashion in the lat 60's prompted by the macrobiotic writings of George Ohsawa Oh...

Re: Lambs to the slaughter

Yup, Simon called it! Were it not for the size and scope of English Football as an international institution, I wouldn't say they auto-humiliated exactly. They just weren't that good compared to some others, and perhaps claims were made, etc. but mostly by SUPERFANS  . By the same token, that ...

Re: The Beautiful Game

My very-amateur prediciton for finals: Spain vs. Argentina. Don't hold me to it, I didn't make fun of anybody else's team. I LOVE Spain's passing game. Blown away last night in the repeat of the Chile-Sp game. Rhythm, reliability, somebody always open, and everytime they lost the ball, they got it b...

Re: Everybody's a critic

Those of you who have dogs or cats who run away from your whistle or flute or fiddle or whatever playing just don't have it as bad as me. I have a parrot. My parrot says "Oh crap!" when I pick up my flute. I think in order to have a truer sense of just how potentially horrible this may be...

Re: Lambs to the slaughter

Personally I find it encouraging that the USA had the good sportsmanship to allow the English one goal more than they let them have in 1950 during our last match up. Good for England! Bloody Nora, I'm already an old man and here you are harking back to the time before I was even born! You kno...

Re: Worse than the oil spill - plastic in the ocean

You know, there is more and more recycling of plastic, and more banning of the grocery bags and such. But we keep seeking, and using a lot of oil. I think there is more hope of controlling the former even though the damage is so demonstrably bad in the ocean gyres.

Re: American Idol...well into the season

I group Lee in what has become a long line of recent lackluster winners: Taylor Hicks, Jordan Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen. For the most part they can sing, but for the most part are all forgettable. So do I. I think Siobhan might have been the least forgettable of the three, depending on where s...

Re: American Idol...well into the season

Crystal was given better theatrical lighting and stage direction for every number. She was all over the stage, costume changes, etc etc. She outsang Lee and deserves to win, but the inequality of it was noticeable, to me, anyway. Lee sang off-key because he was straining high notes, which I personal...

Re: The 9 Countries with the Worst Beer in the World

I don't see how it can get better, but I can see it getting worse, reading a bit between the lines. Mostly, I posted because it shows the commitment here to make quality brews and profiles one of the pioneers for the revival of craft brewing, in the good ol' US.. In a similar process, we had the tak...
