Good (and affordable) aluminum low D whistle?

After playing whistles for about a decade I moved to stringed instruments and neglected the former for a few years. I want to come back, but I want something new to motivate me. I really want an aluminum low D, but I don't know which one would be a good choice, since I see there are a lot of new bra...

OT: Anyone somewhere in Europe to host me?

I'm planning a trip to Europe starting on mid-September. I will go as a backpacker and on a very tight budget. Hence, I'm looking for people to host me at different locations, and where I'll be able to stay for at least 3-4 days (and maybe up to a week or so) to get to know each city in depth. I kno...

Re: Cheap, (yet loud and good) low D or low F recommendations?

Thanks a lot to everyone for the great answers. I didn't know the "MK Kelpie" line. I just checked the prices and the low D costs ~176 u$s new, which is not overly expensive. That's a little more than what I could pay right now, though, but I think I'll just wait a little bit and go with o...

What about its volume? Is is too quite or do you think it could perform well in the street?

Re: Cheap, (yet loud and good) low D or low F recommendations?

Hi Martin It's good to see you here again. I would say that unless you go down the Reyburn or MK route which are out of your price range then you're going to struggle to find a low D with good volume. I was going to suggest a Susato F, a good work tool for the streets. Nick Hey Nick! How are you do...

Cheap, (yet loud and good) low D or low F recommendations?

Hey, people! I haven't posted here in like YEARS :P I'm looking for recommendations of a good and loud low D or low F whistle to play in the street (for busking). It doesn't have to be terribly loud, but it definitely can't be very quiet, because where I play it's fairly noisy. My budget is very lim...

Re: Oh, the poor little Susato.

Haha, cool story! My story with my Susato high D hasn't a good ending. My niece who is 2 years old was playing once with it and since then I haven't been able to find it. I moved to another place recently, so the whistle is oficially lost forever  I learnt the lesson! :tomato: Take care of your...

Re: FS: Reviol low F

Sarah, I'm glad you're liking the whistle. I hope someday soon I'll be able to get another loud low F whistle like the Reviol. In the meantime I have a nice and quiet PVC low F made by a friend

Cheers :)

Re: Ideas on Tony Dixon polymer high D

FWIW, get a Susato (Kildare model). They're made of ABS (plastic), they're tunable and they have a very pure tone. I love'em!

FS: Reviol low F whistle SOLD

Unfortunately, due to financial issues, I'm selling my Reviol low F whistle. I got this whistle (used) from another C&F's user about 6 months ago. The whistle is made of aluminium and it's black anodized. It's in pretty good shape and is a great (and loud) player. This whistle, new, goes for ~u$...
