Re: Posting clips

It's always good to develop your own style, although we usually tend to try to imitate to another players. Your style is very particular, I like it, and I envy the strong tone that you get out of your flute. Cheers, Martin P.S.: Just an OT, I put this in the 'Irish Traditional Music' forum, it's a t...

Re: Piano/Keyboard

I don't know why, but the left hand accompaniment sounded decidedly Russian to me. I like it a lot, but it's not what I'm used to hearing in the small sampling of Irish piano accompaniment that I've heard. LOL, that's funny. When I was learning it, slowly, I thought: ''Cr$p, this sounds like a polk...

Re: What key whistle?

In the CD ''Song of the irish whistle'' (where is ''The Immigrant'') there are other great tunes to learn using your D whistle. ''The Level Plain'' is my favorite, and I always play it on my D flute (you can play along the recording with your D whistle) You also can play ''The South Wind'', ''Down B...

Re: coming up to speed

I think that that recording had a problem when was uploaded. If not, anyways it's crazy that speed. I don't think someone is gonna play it like that in a session...

BTW, that Telemann Sonata in F is awesome, MTGuru, do you have the sheet music?

Re: When to take it to a sesh?

I think 5 months may be too early to be thinking in going to a session. Anyways, it's you who should know if you're ready or not. If you hesitate, maybe you are not ready yet. I'd keep practicing at home like crazy, and when I could play at least 10 tunes in a very good way, I would think in trying ...

Piano/Keyboard

Does someone play ITM on piano? I've been learning the piano (ok, keyboard) for about 3.5 months. I'm still self taught. Today it was the first time that I tried to play something traditional and here are the results (forgive my mistakes, after 20 takes my fingers were sore ) http://www.box.net...

Re: Brian Finnegan wannabe seeks advice...

I don't know exactly what you mean with 'squeaky' but my high D Susato is one of the best high D whistles I have (and I have quite a few). I tried a Dixon high D plastic whistle and I liked it. It was much sweeter and quieter than the Susato, and I was able to play in the second octave very easily. ...

Re: Posting clips

Good job, Arbo!! You really have your own style, doncha? I don't know what happened with the files, I can't listen to them either. Anyways, I just signed up in box.net and uploaded the files there. Here they are: The Ashplant (flute solo) http://www.box.net/shared/5co28qcst5 The Ashplant (flu...

Re: Brian Finnegan wannabe seeks advice...

I've played 2 Walton's in my life. One was great. A bit quiet, but played very nice. The other one was almost 'unplayable'. I have some Susato whistles, and I like them quite a lot. I don't think you can get a BAD Susato, or at least I'm not aware about that. I have Susatos in C, D, Eb, E, F and low...

Re: Math for Engtlish Students.

Hebrew is worse.. For example, for saying that nobody is here, I should say something like "Nobody IS NOT here'' and I ask to myself.. if ''nobody is not here'', so, EVERYBODY IS!! Or another example.. if I want to say that I've never played soccer I should say ''I have never NOT played soccer'...

Re: Posting clips

I've posted this tune with my Tipple flute, a long time ago, now I post it again played with my Forbes flute.. The Ashplant http://bothrops.xanga.com/audio/ebe683526788/ P.S.: I know that a lot of rolls are ''rushed'' and bad executed, but I haven't been practicing too much with the flute, and that'...
