Re: Whistle Tune Composition

...writing my own music...using a random melody generator... Sorry but isn't that self-contradictory? Well, I was coming at it from a Surrealist viewpoint ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrealist_techniques ), which is something I also do with writing poetry. I use random word generators to gener...

Re: Whistle Tune Composition

So how about trying a simple binary form taking the first line as your A section, repeating that, then trying to match it up with a repeated B section where you've got more contrast of melodic material? Yes, although I was thinking the other way around...it kind of sounded like the B part of a tune...

Whistle Tune Composition

Not sure if anyone else will actually be interested in this, but I thought I'd share. I was bored the other night and decided to try writing my own music. I had trouble getting started, so I generated several random melodies using this random melody generator: https://www.link.cs.cmu.edu/melody-gene...

WTB: Whistle in the key of A

I'm in need of an A whistle. Preferably one with a strong low end and bell note, and high notes (high A and B) that aren't impossible to hit. I'm leaning towards a Susato, Burke (composite?), or Goldie, but if you've got something else, feel free to email or PM me. Thanks! --Brett bretterb AT gmail ...

Memorial Service Tunes?

Hi All! I've been asked to play whistle with a guitar player for a memorial service. It's not for someone I know. The guitarist is a Music Therapist that works at a Hospice, and a mutual friend mentioned my whistle playing to her and asked if I'd be willing to play. I think we'll only play a few tun...

Re: F is for fun

... was wondering if anyone else likes to play around on a high F whistle. I keep a brass Generation F in the kitchen and play it while I'm cooking. It's an older Generation from about 1999 and has a cracked mouthpiece but still plays/sounds great. It actually has a more pleasant sound than many of...

Re: Cross fingerings for G# and Bb across different D whistl

Who makes / sells these? What notes do the keys give? Zaulden: I'm not sure they're being made any more. They were made by Ralph Sweet (Sweetheart Flute Company: http://www.sweetheartflute.com ), but he retired in 2017. Joseph Morneault (Musique Morneaux: http://musiquemorneaux.com ) continues to m...

Re: Cross fingerings for G# and Bb across different D whistl

On this topic (more/less), I never have gotten around to trying one of the keyed Sweet whistles. Has anyone played one of those? Do they work well? I did a search and found several old discussions. Synopsis: While the keyed Sweet whistle gets very good general reviews, the high A and B take a lot of...
