Re: button box question
Hi All.. Probably a dumb question.. And obviously, I know nothing about these. But on a button accordion (2 row for example), what tuning is preferable/ reccomended/ optimal?? Assuming ITM, is b/c or d/d# or d/g better, worse, different?? Thanks! seanc, Most Irish Traditional Music played on a butt...

Re: Using the Bass Buttons
[quote="Jenny"]Nate - You're right about the Hanrahan book. After I got over the switch from B/C to C#/D, I decided the principles would be the same for either box. So I'll just keep on working on the right side and mess with the bass side when I take a notion. Thanks![/quote Jenny, I apol...

Re: B/C Bass
I'm going to be getting a new accordion, and have a choice of Burke or McComiskey bass layout. I'm not even playing basses yet. Does anyone have any opinions, , advice, or information about the advantages or disadvantages of either? Thanks. I have the Joe Burke set-up on mine. The buttons are layed...

Ryan, Take a look at the Irish Dancemaster at http://www.irishdancemaster.com/accordion.html Michael is a supernice guy, and he makes a great beginner instrument. I have one of his B/C instruments, and I can't put it down. It has a really fast keyboard, and excellent tone. Irish Traditional music is...

Re: My dad wants to play accordion
.......I've heard about the Dancemaster accordions some, but I don't know too much about those. Could y'all explain a bit about good accordions, the bad ones, and what are good ones to at least start on? I have a Dancemaster that I bought in September and I am delighted with it! It is a B/C dry tun...

Here is a link to keyboard layout for C#/D accordion. Here is a beginner's guide as well. Mostly about D/G boxes, but you might find some usefull information.

I also have a Dancemaster and I am very satisfied with my decision. I have been playing only since September. When I took it to a session, (even though I could only play a couple of tunes) the fiddle player decided that he needed a button accordion! He ordered a C#/D Dancemaster. The worst thing tha...

I wasn't crazy about the plastic parts either, but Michael won't make a wood box (I asked), so I got one in black. It really does look good. However, if you look at the Paulo Soprani, it is also plastic, and people seem to like them pretty good! As I said, mine is a 2 voice B/C box, it is tuned &quo...

Re: C#/D Dancemaster
Hi Claudine - Your reasons for liking your Dancemaster are nearly the same as mine - it IS very light and easy to handle. The bellows were a bit hard to pull at first but they seem to be "relaxing" now. I'm very happy with it. Jenny I have never played another button accordion, so I reall...

Thanks for the advice Nate. I have looked at the Dancemaster site several times and I will probably go that route (although I am not a fan on pearloid look). I know what you mean. The black ones are not pearlized, they are just black. It actually looks pretty good. http://www.voguehost.com/ims/u/Ta...

How is your search coming along? Here is a question. What if you do like playing the button accordion? Will you regret not getting a decent instrument? If you decide that you don't like it, you can sell it and probably be out less money than if you bought a cheap instrument with which you would not ...

Re: Anyone have a tricked-out Hero or Schylling (Dancemaster
Years ago I bought a Cajun-style Hero for $19 from Dusty Strings in Seattle. I played it while walking around, waiting for buses, etc. Folks loved it, took my picture, asked questions, good missionary work for a squeezebox. I sold it to a friend when I moved, and used to wish that someone made some...
