Re: Tune to follow Streams of Whiskey?

My vote would be for either the "Rakes of Mallow" or the "Sally Gardens Reel" (not the air).

Both can be played at the same tempo as the song and they have a bit of energy to them.

Good luck!

...missed it again...not that I was in the UK this time. The Overton tribute must have been something to see.

Name that 'Under One Sky' song...please!

Hi all, I've been scanning the internet trying to find out the name of this song and to see if there are any recordings of it that I can buy. This video is of John McCusker's project "Under One Sky". I'm not sure if was previously written by someone else or if it's a collective original by...

Burkes are dead brilliant. I bought an aluminum 'D' some months ago after coming across some good internet reviews and within a month I bought an additional 'A' and 'Low D' of the same make. I love their tone, volume control & spot on tunability. Also, I find that I can do certain ornamentation ...

It's a trade-off...the only way I've been able to regularly combat wind gusts is to use my wireless headset so I can turn my back to the wind when appropriate. There's a separate learning curve for using the headset though. I only use mine now at the occasional outdoor festival/concert although I th...

That's a shame.
I live in Philly and I'll keep an eye out in the classifieds and outlets to see if anything turns up.

That's funny, Brigitte! I get the feeling you don't like people sucking through whistles. :)
How about drinking through them like a straw?

Hope all is well in DE...nice win yesterday!
Take care,
Matt

Poking around on the internet, I came across the fact that Michael Copeland has (or had?) his shop in Philly. I must have known that... maybe... once... :-?

I wish I had better news for you but I've lived in Philly all my life and never found a place that I'd call a "good whistle store". Nearly every whistle I have was bought from somewhere else. The only place that might be worth a visit is the Bucks County Folk Music Shop (http://www.bucksmu...

Annie, ...I know what you mean. My father always says "Only the rich can afford to buy cheap." I broke down and bought a Shure PGX14 and it 's been durable and has great sound/reception/versitility. It was expensive but I'm coming up on my 3rd year with it and I've had no problems. Cranber...

I remembered posting to this thread a while ago and thought I'd supply some info to anyone interested... I found a piece of equipment that helps with the "working the mic" issue when using a headset. Check the web for "Digitech vx400" Vocal Processor. I bought this a few months a...

Let's not leave out how lovely the individual whistle sheaths are that Annie makes. I've had my Low D "bag" for a while now and there are no loose threads, wear, or depreciation of any kind. ...and I beat the  out of mine! It goes to every gig and has had it's share of beer spillage...
