Re: The Show
Exactly the look Richards used to give Jagger on stage. I'm sure they loved their music, and at it's best it was very, very good. But the performance situation is something else entirely. On "the big" stage, music is product. The way I look at it is this: the musicians get to work in thei...

Re: The Show
It's a show. It is live. It is not pre-recorded. Flatley is a great dancer. Flatley is a great flute player. The fiddlers are great fiddlers. All the dancers are great dancers. It's something other than the pure drop- a show . At times it is over the top. You certainly don't have to like it. As Sea...

As a former classicaly trained pianist, I feel the same way about Liberace. (flatly has way more skills than Liberace, by the way) I always hated how gaudy Liberace played and all those stupid outfits and glitter and glam. The thing I hated the most is how all the people who don't really know anythi...

Kevin, your tone on the dixon poly flute sounds great. I have one of those too. 3-piece right? I have a hard time not making it go sharp when i blow for a more reedy tone. I find I have to chin down to make the low D in tune and chin up to keep the upper register in tune. When I pull the mouthpiece ...

Whilst at Hobgoblin, i also tried a few flutes, focusing on the Dixon 3-pc conical-bored polymer. My initial impression was that it didn't strike me as particularly better, in terms of tone and second octave tuning, than my current home made single piece polymer. Most likely this is something that ...

I have both. You can't really say one VS the other. They are two different instruments. The Dixon Trad is a gentle, more quiet whistle. The Susato is the best price for a whistle that plays in tune and is LOUD!! The dixon is better for solo playing but won't cut it in a session. i can barely hear mi...

It may be that your embouchre is too much of a pucker. That's the natural way we all want to blow for the first time. It causes you to waste air, which is the main reason for the breathy sound. Try making your mouth into more of a wider, thinline, smile shape. You'll also get more of that barky, ree...

Hi Jessie , it looks beautifull and surely it sounds good as well as M.Levenson is a very skillfull and well known (one of the best) shakuhachi maker in the world . The only thing I can say is that nobody can go wrong by buying a shakuhachi made by M. Levenson Manuel agreed. Monty is a MASTER flute...
