In the interest of lightening the atmosphere, and getting back on point, can anyone give me examples of particular tracks (rather than just albums), where people think Ennis is doing something very special? I'm looking for instances of excellent phrasing, musical interpretation, or technique that I ...

Once again people, no offence (or blasphemy) was intended here. I'm not saying that I know Ennis is bad, I'm asking why people think he's good - what they think is so special about his playing. By hypothesis, this may not be obvious to all listeners. My hunch was that some people don't know. My othe...

I thought this might stir things a bit, but it was an honest question - just trying to learn... I'm not sure how judging potential posters to your question the way you did in that sentence is going to help you get answers, be it them being full of s**t or not. Sorry, some people just are, and you ca...

So, Ennis...educate me.

I was just about to reply to this: http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=49808 but thought I might start a new topic, instead. Ive been listening to Uilleann pipes since I was a kid (Planxty, Bothy band, Chieftains - the usual), but have only been playing them for about a year. Now, I am well aw...

With all this trouble, you'd almost think that the owners of this copyrighted material didn't want people making copies...just a thought. No E Have you ever used a VCR? Tivo? Same thing. You can consider this process as the equivalent to setting up your VCR. And here, you also have to download the ...

I can't do this from work, but I have it on good authority (a computer engineer friend) that this will identify the missing codec:

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/GSpot270a.zip

Then you just google the codec, download it, and it should play

Looking forward to trying this

That much I can help with. To clarify what DJM wrote, in order to get the URL you need, you have to start watching the program in your browser. When it is playing, right click the screen. Then, select "Properties". At the bottom of the properties page you will see "Location" with...

It was a great time. Thanks for hosting Steafan, and for the tunes and tips. It was good to meet everyone, and I'm looking forward to more of these.

I started with the GHB long time ago, but I stopped when I switch to the Uilleann Pipe. I was as young as naive, and because I heard someone said: "A gentleman is a person who can play the GHB but who doesn't", I thought that stop this instrument and focus on the UP would turn me into a g...

New Dixon Drones? Thoughts?

Has anyone had a chance to try/hear a set of CJ Dixon's new and improved drones? They look nice. It looks like he's incorporated some of the suggestions people made on the pictures he posted of his old style drones a while back.
