Thanks for your insight into the use of different fingerings, it certainly is an ongoing learning process.

Would you be so kind as to elaborate on this statement, maybe with a few examples either, in general, or specific to the Hunter B you are refering to...........asking of the player all the fingerings that a small holed historical chanter requires.
Thanks, David

Thanks panceltic, that is very interesting and informative, not to mention fun. I just spent an hour working on it.

Also, if you have access, there was an article or two in the Piper's Review, I will see if I can find it.

Re: Tommy Reck
I'd like to add my thanks for your reedmaking book, Pat, and express my interest in any recording of Tommy Reck. I have the Stone in the Field, which I downloaded from a commercial site where it was available at $0.99 a track.

Two piece staple
I was disassembling a friends reed and found that the staple, which was made of 3/16 o.d. brass tubing had a 1/4" piece of 7/32 o.d. brass tubing over the end of the staple where the eye was formed, thus giving a larger o.d. to the eye. This would add about .024" to the o.d. of the eye, wh...

Thanks to everyone who responded, I will continue the search for that elusive OS that will open my files and report back when I get lucky.

Re: Help!! Lost files on SRS journals
You are a wealth of information Bill. Now all I have to do is figure out what OS I used originally and hopefully find someone who still uses it, or keep trying the CD's on every computer that I can until I find one that works. If I eventually can access them on another computer, can I then modify th...

Re: Help!! Lost files on SRS journals
Hi
I know I had the files originally and since I have replaced my computer in the last six months, maybe there is an issue there?
Are these particular files in a different format than the rest of them?
Cheers, David

Re: Getting a reed for a Jim Daly fully rationalized set?
To temporarily get rid of the mainstock I would turn a wooden plug, the same diameter and length as the part of the mainstock where it connects to the bag, wrap it with waxed thread and plug it in as you would the mainstock. I have done this for a couple of friends. If you don't have access to a lat...

Help!! Lost files on SRS journals
Hello, When this question was posted "DOes anyone know the throat distance for j kenna set", I went to look it up on my SRS Vol 1 and found that particular folder #1 "An Early Set of Irish Pipes" was missing. I checked the rest of the files on that CD and they were all there. I t...

Re: Reflections on the E note
Did your extension affect the bell note tone quality or tuning or was the venting large enough to avoid giving it the same problems as the E had?
