Re: Is Alba still selling whistles?
Happy to say that my Alba Alto G whistle arrived early this morning. I phoned Stacy last week, just to check my order had been received and she confirmed the whistle had been made and was ready to send out. She said that she was a bit behind due to poor health. So in total order placed 24th March an...

Re: Makersmark letter K??
If it looks like this but with a black plastic head, then it's an original "Kerry" Whistle. They're just re-launching it this April, but with a silver head as seen here for less than £50. https://youtu.be/0Vt6h8jOJIA?feature=shared If not, post up some pictures of it, which will make it ea...

Re: Is Alba still selling whistles?
I will mention that the various Alba whistles I've owned sometimes have unusual bore sizes compared to most other makers. Most makers use their Low D whistle tubing (usually around 22mm ID) for their Low C, in other words the Low C is simply a stretched Low D. Colin Goldie, Reviol, and other makers...

Re: Is Alba still selling whistles?
I think it was about 4 weeks but Stacey had mentioned that she was not returning to work for a few days and she had a bit of catching up to do. I really like the whistle, I've not had much time to play it but I'm really glad I bought it. Its my only G whistle and I don't really have much to compare...

Re: Is Alba still selling whistles?
I bought an Alto G from Alba in early January this year. Just a few weeks delay while she caught up with orders after having a break over Christmas and New Year, which wasn't a problem. Iain Ah, that's reassuring. If you don't mind me asking, how long did you have to wait from ordering to delivery,...

Is Alba still selling whistles?
I just ordered an Alba Vibe Alto G from the Alba Whistles website, but I'm a bit worried as I just saw on the Alba Whistles Facebook page that Stacy announced in January 2023 that she was retiring but still producing Bass whistles from time to time. It seems strange that if that were the case, why w...

Re: Kerry Pro Low D - Overtones on low notes
Nismology, Thank you for your description of how the two Kerry Pro instruments play. Thanks especially for the pics. The pics are very interesting. In the pics, the windway entrances look visibly different. One has a nominally "flat" roof. The other roof has some curves. Question: which o...

Re: Kerry Pro Low D - Overtones on low notes
Just wanted to post an update now the forum is back up and running. I picked up a low D Thunderbird in addition to the Kerry Pro, just to compare and found the Thunderbird much easier to play. I sent Phil Hardy a video comparing the two and asked him about the Overtones and instability in the low re...

Kerry Pro Low D - Overtones on low notes
Hi guys, first post here, pleased to meet you! I recently got back into whistling after rediscovering my NR Chieftain low F that I got 18 years ago, in the back of a cupboard. I love this whistle. It's so easy to play, soft to blow and sounds beautiful. I also have a brass Howard Low D that's around...
