I've only been at each of them once, and had a better time in Abbeyfeale, more young musicians having sessions. Louisburgh's also an option, but the crowd's are getting nearly too big for the town there, and it's hard to get into pubs to have a tune - that's how I found last year anyway. I'm sure bo...

Sessions in New York?
Hey all, I'm heading to NYC on 31st October to pick up my B Gallagher set, and hanging around for a few days. Is there any sessions happenin in any pubs round Manahatan or anywhere that's not too far away? I'll probably bring my D chanter with me if there's a chance of a tune somewhere. Hopefully I'...

All-Ireland 2007
The All-Ireland Fleadh 2007 is to be held in Tullamore, Co. Offally. Strangely, after trying to secure the Fleadh for this past couple of years, Ballina withdrew their bid on Saturday, leaving Tullamore uncontested for next year. By Sunday night in Letterkenny, all hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses a...

fleadh was great craic this year. last year was the first i'd missed in my life, so was good to be back. generally found the crowds to be smaller than in towns futher south, which was a good thing. there was a huge amount of musicians about, albeit, not all playing music, but then, that's typical of...

i've heard rumours that froment and woofe were getting tired of random visitors coming into their workshops to meet them. workshops were becoming more like tourist attractions, so they've moved somewhere quiter to try and clear their order books? i can't in any way substantiate this, i've heard it f...

i don't know what you should do, redwolf, i've only had this problem when playing a harp where the strings are very close to each other. from the picture of your harp, i don't imagine this is the case, it may just be a case of practice makes perfect? or close to it? sorry i can't help more than that.

No, my harp's nylon and carbon fibre strung. I noticed that it's your nails that are hitting the strings - solution: cut your nails. I've always told all the people i've taught that they must cut their nails. This should help, but also, if you place your fingers on the 3 or 4 strings that you're goi...

redwolf, the technique used for stopping the buzzing is to place the palm of your hand on the buzzing strings before you actually place your fingers on the strings of the next chord you're going to do. if you slap the strings, you get a nice synicipation effect, but keep it easy for now. Hope this w...
