If you like that tune, you might also check out "Return From Fingal", which coincidentally, Lunasa does a nice version of. It has a similar "feel" to "Autumn Child". I've always liked them both.

Re: First whistle for young musician?

My daughter is also 11. One thing to consider is the size of her hands. I think my daughter is just now able to comfortably reach all of the holes on her Sweetone. So, a regular whistle might be a slight stretch for her. Again, your daughter may have larger hands. However, one option to consider is ...

Re: Suggestions for beginners books?

I agree on Ryan Duns' YouTube videos for getting started. They're very helpful. If you want an actual book, I'd recommend the Bill Ochs book. I have both this one and Grey Larsen's big book. Personally, I think the Bill Ochs book is better for getting started. It's much simpler, and very clearly wri...

Re: Freeman Whistle soundclips ...

Yeah, thanks for posting these. It's great to be able to hear them all playing the same tune and with the same recording setup.

I'm a little surprised at the differences I can hear when able to compare them back to back.

Wait, did you say that your wife told you to keep playing?

Did I read that right?

Re: Bluegrass Whistlin'

I think using the whistle in bluegrass has been mentioned here before. Makes perfect sense to me. A lot of bluegrass isn't too far off from ITM, really.

Re: Parks customer service

I always wonder about posting threads like this. I think it's great to give praise where it's due. However, I also begin to wonder if everyone who reads this thread will ask him to do the same thing. It's a catch-22 it seems. I ordered a ukulele last year for my birthday. Before ordering, I emailed ...

Re: New to the community

The reason behind my user name is that I am a whistler and an archer at the same time.
At the same time? Really? Have video?

Welcome to the forums! :)

Re: Suggestions for a C whistle

I'd recommend Jerry's Mellow Dog too. When I got mine a while back I went ahead and paid the extra $5.00 to get the C body and I actually like it better than the D body. Very smooth and easy to play.

Re: Avatar

Correct, the glasses are not red/blue. The ones we got looked almost like horn-rimmed glasses from the 50's - like Buddy Holly's - kinda cool. They were very lightly shaded. It's almost like looking through clear glasses.

Re: Avatar

I haven't seen Avatar yet, but I've seen a handful of the new 3D movies. The CGI movies in 3D are WAY better than the old green/red 3D movies. I think the first I saw was The Polar Express in 3D at the IMAX when it came out a few years ago. That was awesome - the 3D, the size, and the sound made for...
