Re: Alternative to Sweet Shannon flute?

I really like the inexpensive Delrin flute I got from Michael Cronnelly, of M&E flutes. https://www.mandeirishflutes.ie I also have a Shannon, and I prefer the M&E because it’s easier to get the “hard” sound common in ITM, at least for me. The Shannon is probably a bit easier to play. It’s ...

Re: Alternative to Sweet Shannon flute?

If really interested in the Shannon, you might contact Walt directly and try and clear up the nebulosity..... You can find him on the Members list at http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2285 Or, there's a Somers on the Used Instruments Forum. Best wishes. Steve Ac...

Re: Alternative to Sweet Shannon flute?

Only slightly more expensive and both very, very good are the delrin flutes by Rob Forbes and Dave Copley. The Copley is slightly easier to play and the Forbes has a bigger sound. Both are instruments you will want to keep even if you later decide to get a wooden flute. Thanks for the referral. I w...

Alternative to Sweet Shannon flute?

The Sweet Shannon model flute comes highly recommended in these forums for the price (a big consideration for me) and quality, but when you go to the Sweet site there's a notice that the Shannon is out of stock with the nebulous suggestion that one should check back in a few months. So, what is a si...

Re: Whistles for sale

PRICE REDUCED. Okay, apparently you can't edit your post after a certain time, so I'm going to put it here. The price has been reduced to a 40% discount. The whistles alone retail for over $100, PLUS the shipping you would normally have to pay. I have reduced the price to $60 with the same terms as ...

Re: PVC: Tipple flute vs. Mark Foster flute?

Thank you for your thoughts and taking time to respond. I have since ordered a couple of flutes from Mark Foster and I am rather pleased with them. One is the standard type low D PVC flute and the other is what he refers to is a Fife in the key of G. (Both demonstrated on his My Whistle and Flute Yo...

Re: Common method used to sell whistles?

Problem with selling whistles in batches is ofcourse that if you're interested in one, you're forced to buy another few you may not want at all. Which makes it generally an uninviting proposition. True and I may change that. But then I'm not going to cover the postage along the way because then tha...

Re: Common method used to sell whistles?

I have only sold on this forum once, but I have purchased a number of things over the years. Most recently I have been asked to pay via paypal's friend and family payment. And I think that is how my buyer paid me. That has no fee or a small one if I remember correctly. There was in the recent past ...

Common method used to sell whistles?

So, as I'm getting ready in the next couple of weeks to sell off a small group of whistles, what is the most common method or protocol people use to do that here? I pretty much plan to ask 2/3 of the price I paid for them retail or from the maker, as they are all in "like new condition", a...
