Next D Whistle
I'm looking for my next whistle and the main consideration is easy to play, a good woody (mellow) tone and easy to raise to the next octave with out it sounding like a wounded cat. I presently have a Mellow D Walton tweaked by Freeman which I really like a lot, but whats the next step up say under $...

Recorder Fife
OK, your probably right it is a whistle, it has a threaded joint and the fipple lip has a chip, as I said its seen a lot of use but still plays decent.
Plus the fact that I have a problem problem with my spit building up in the fipple, and since the fipple is larger it helps this problem....

Recorder Fife
It has a fipple and end blown like a whistle. In fact it just looks like a cross between a whistle and a recorder.

Recorder Fife
Can some share some information on Recorder Fife ? Is it a close cousin to the whistle ? (at least I think it a fife) I was given a very well used two peice recorder and the finger holes are very similar to my D whistle except of course for the thumb and 4th finger for right hand. The first 6 holes ...

Recorder vs Whistle
Is a recorder easier to play then a whistle ? I'm refering to the fingering, but mostly getting the proper tone. My biggest problem in learning the whistle right now is getting the proper tone, especially D. I can play very slow and get the proper tone, but when I play faster I scare my dog and he l...

Sicence of whistle building
I'm looking at making a whistle, I'm a mechcanical engine and have access to different tubing too. I have looked at several web site that show how to make a PVC or Copper whistle, but I haven't found one on the theory of design, calculating the tubing size, distance and size of holes, or fipple desi...

Silicon around Holes
For Clumsy Musical Whistle Challenged Like I, who has uncoordinated fingers has any one thought of this ? Placing a small ring of silicone around the holes so it makes it easier to find the hole with your fingers plus it makes sealing the hole easier. I suppose gluing a small rubber O-Ring around th...

I'm using Cakewalk Home addtion to help me learn some tunes. So far I just input the notes manually with the computer using the Staff View and a Recorder as the sound........ My questions are: 1. Beginner One Hand Tunes
Hi All,
Are their any simple tunes I can learn that only use one hand (left or right) in the same octave. I would like the sheet music for them too. Just trying to take it one step at a time.
My whisle is a mellow D,
All good things take time

Beginner How Hard ?
Hi All, Hope you haven't seen this question to many times. I'm 63 years old and can't read music and couldn't carry a tune with a truck. I have always wanted to play a music instrument and the whistle has always sounded so sweet. 1. How hard is it in relative terms to learn ? 2. Whats the best way t...
