That's the one. Thank you! Now - can you please help me remember where I've heard it ;-)

Thanks again!

Name that tune

Hi, I was at a business event the other night and a couple of Irish musicians played some lovely tunes. Among those tunes were this one - which I already know - but I cannot recall the name. Can anyone recognize it? You can hear a small recording I did here: https://app.box.com/s/xee2olvq59f3mf0ayp5...

Chord suggestions for home made set

Hello all, I was hoping to find a friendly chord-guru (less would do it :-)) in here - as I have made a homemade set and I am not the greatest at setting a fitting set of chords to a tune. If you have the time and wouldn't mind a little challenge - I would be very grateful for any input. The tunes a...

Re: Fiddle bow "scratch triplets" on flute?

Funny - I thought about this very issue the other day when I listened to a Youtube video of The High Drive Reel. The fiddle player definitely didn't do "normal" triplets. I looked it up at thesession and this version was the most fitting: X: 1 T: High Drive, The C: Gordon Duncan M: 4/4 L: ...

Re: On tonguing and the Irish Flute

I love traditional music - especially for the fact that it is more laid back than for example classical music. If you play a mistake in a session - it doesn't matter, simply play on. If you lose your place whilst playing, it doesn't matter, simply play on - and so on. Yet – and that’s fair enough, I...

Re: FS: Sweetheart Rosewood flute in D - $175

This is probably a very decent price for this instrument. Including overseas shipment. My very first wooden flute was a Sweetheart one-key in rosewood of similar appearance. Purchased in 1991. Just last week (! really !) I got motivated to add a Cnat. thumbhole and shape a flattened place for my LH...

FS: Sweetheart Rosewood flute in D - $175 (SOLD)

Sweetheart Rosewood flute in D (concert pitch) with faux-ivory rings, serial number 1175. In great condition, and has been well cared for. No cracks or other damage. It has a very beautiful sound, has a nice low D and is in general very easy to play. I bought if from another board member 6 or 7 year...

Is this thing still on? I had the great pleasure of trying out the touring flute 4 years ago and wouldn't mind giving it another go.

All the best,

Tunes in 7/8, 5/4 (or similar off-beat)

Hi guys, Do you have any suggestions for 7/8, 5/4 beat tunes (or similar off-beat) - that you can play on a keyless (preferably without being Brian Finnegan :-)) I've found Solas - Boy/Girl Tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsCNxHp7Cjw You need some pretty magical crossfingering on that for the la...
