That's asking a lot ;)

We're getting along pretty well! I'll see what I can do, if I can find a working mic in the stack of boxes. It's there somewhere, I know it!

Oooooh, that means me! Can't wait! Ah, that saves me the time asking Mitch for the next person's address :D Oooh, and it reminds me -- I've been wanting to post a bit about the german one-key flute I bought from you, but life's been hectic lately, sorry about that... What with a new job and moving ...

The European whistle has arrived here! First impression: It's beautiful. I just seem to have this thing for wooden whistles and flutes. Second impression: Wow, the E hole is big! Third impression: Ain't it beautiful, tho? I'll make sure it gets a proper playing this week, post a quick review, and se...

Actually, in Holland the word for flute is 'fluit' and the word for recorder is 'blokfluit', so when people call my tinwhistle a 'fluit', i'm never really sure whether to be offended or not. My practice side-blown flute, however, is often called 'table-leg with six holes', which is of course, utterl...

I'll second that. Sweetone C's are the worst I've seen yet.
Thirded. The MEGs are even worse.

I play lots of old-time Dutch/Belgian/French/German folk, and even some klezmer-type tunes. All of this requiring lots of half-holing, but I find tunes in Am to be quite managable on the regular D whistle and flute. My favourite is actually a tune composed by one of the <a href="http://www.gonn...

That... that is beautiful.

*snif*

Thanks, man.

I need to show this to my girlfriend, to convince her my whistle collection is not *that* big, and that I need more whistles. And flutes. Definately more flutes.

Then again, it might strengthen her resolve to never let my collection become that big :)

Agreed. As someone who is learning the flute, this site has been incredibly valuable to me.

As one owner of a Burke Low D (Composite) EZ to another... HEAR HEAR! However, do not discount the cheapies. I find that, now that I've been playing with my higher-end whistles for a while... Those cheapies are amazing. They are not perfect, and that makes them special. The Burke is perfect, which m...

I've played a Harper D at Hobgoblin's in London. Nicest, clearest whistle I ever played. Someone with more money than me snap this up! :)

Actually a was talking to a friend of mine who plays the clarinet. He says in a clarinet switching octaves is done by changing the way you blow but not necessarily how hard you blow. I told him for the whistle it is only how hard you blow. Am I right? I am not completely sure... Well... partially.....

Re: Amplification

Greetings from a fellow Dutch whistleplayer :) Yes, I'd say you made a good choice of whistles. The generation is a hit-or-miss affair, but a Clare is very nice. Me, I don't like Sweetones, but your opinion may vary. You chose from a wide variety of whistle types, which can only be good. As for ampl...
