I still can't decide

So you festival junkies what's it to be? cuckoo or abbeyfeale.

Both sound good. Which place is nicer though and what has the better atmosphere?

Abbeyfeale

Thank you for the information on Abbeyfeale. I heard the same as you did. Do you know where I could get the link for the festival or who is organising it ?
Thank you.

The Cookoo: or Abbeyfeale festivals. Any feedback?

Hi there, I intend to head out of Dublin for the may bank holiday week-end.

At the moment, I cannot make a decision as to where to go.

Abbeyfeale (Limerick) or the Cookoo.

Thank you.

Maurice O'Keeffe week-end

The Maurice O'Keeffe week-end will commence in the Easter bank holiday. It is in Kiskeam (a village in Slieabh Luachra - Co Kerry). I would be interest in going down but I don't know anything about it.

I can't find any information on it anywhere,

Is it a question of sight-reading when learning by notation?

I always was able to pick up by ear extremely well and I used to be good at sight-reading music. Sight reading is a skill which requires a good bit of work. I never really enjoyed it as much as learning by ear. I don't think ITM is particularly hard to sight-read but something gets lost in reading t...

" always push yourself past your competence. if you are doing what you think you can do..."I like that comment. It sums up what you should do in anything that you really enjoy. I remember the first time I heard Matt Molloy play, I thought Wow!. I'd sum it up as a valuable listening experie...

Workshops are not good.

I remember Catherine feeling quite strongly that going to workshops was the "lazy way to learning tunes" and the best way to get good is to work at home on your own, listening to the dictaphone playing over and over.

I hear you.

I heard the same about harmonics ie they work well to get the embouchure right. But as for practise, nothing can compensate for that....

WHAT TO DO TO GET VERY GOOD ON THE FLUTE.

What do you do to get good on the wooden flute?
How much practise do you put in generally?

Just interested to hear what people are going about to get better in the flute.

POLAND - Krakow sessions

I am going to Krakow from 14 March to 21 March. I was wondering what sessions are on there, if at all.

Regards,

What did flautists do to make progress in their playing?

It would be a simple thing -like above - or something that took a lot of work. I look forward to reading what others have to say.... :)
