FS: A collection of Whistles

It's been a while since I've been on the forum; good to see it's still thriving! I'm not playing much Celtic music nowadays, and need to thin my whistle collection. The following are offered for your consideration. These whistles were purchased 2004-2005 and all are in great condition. Price include...

For some reason when I read this, this song (which I hadn't thought of in over 30 years) immediately popped into my head! :)

I would recommend their Castles & Dreams DVD. It's a double DVD for not much more than what a single CD costs. Live show, LOTS of songs, and LOTS of extras. You can see what she's playing on each song & what it sounds like. As I recall, she plays rauschpfeife more than shawm in this concert....

Theres a specific sound that I'm searching for, and I -think- the Shawm is what creates it, although I just am not quite sure. I'm also looking into the rauschepfife, trying to find sound clips of it, as I've heard this might be what I'm looking for.... Have you listened to any Blackmore's Night? C...

I've also used 57's & 58's in the past, although I currently use an SM-81 (condensor) mic. As someone mentioned above, the condensors generally are more sensitive, and you need to take measures (as also mentioned above) to reduce opportunities for feedback. Regarding hearing yourself play, even ...

Hi Jason, Coincidentally, I had Mack make me a set of PVC whistles with his faux wood finish in A, G & F, that I received just before Christmas. He'll work with you if you have certain characteristics that you're looking for in the whistle. I love all three of them, but I couldn't really pick on...

And I agree with all the above. Mack made me a set of 3 PVC whistles with his faux wood finish, in F, G, & A that I got just before Christmas. I had asked him for certain characteristics, including a little extra volume & a stronger than usual low end. The A & G have replaced my other wh...

You can get round this, and use 10-hole harps for all his tunes (I think!), by using a 10-hole blues harp that's had the 3-blow retuned up by a tone (this is the Paddy Richter tuning). Hi Steve, Yeah, I was reading about that on your website before I posted. I may have to try that; wish I'd seen it...

Shortly before Christmas I was cleaning out some stuff in a closet & came across a chromatic Koch harmonica I had received as a teen. I vaguely recalled messing around with it but not being able to play it well, so it spent the past 35 years or so in its original box. Anyway, I took it out &...

I can think of a few reasons, depending on the tune or song. A main one for me is choice of octave/pitch. If we're playing a tune/song in A that starts on an A, B or C# note, I can use the lower octave on an A whistle. If I use a D whistle (soprano), I have to play an octave higher. Depends on the s...
