Jean Pierre Le Meur, (French Whistle Maker: http://www.webreizh.net/jplemeur/), simply use the term: "Tin Whistle" in his French web site.

Copelands, why aren't they being talked about?
Is that just my impression, or are the Copeland whistles rarely mentionned in any thread ? Burke, Abell and O'Riordans probably top the frequently-mentionned list, but what about Copeland? Where's the ".. got my new Copeland today..!" posts??

Toothpaste, .. I wouldn't use anything toxic on something I stick in my mouth! Never mind rincing it afterward... would you trust putting a whistle in your mouth after polishing it with lets say PCB, Rat Poison or Cyanide and a good rince? Even traces of toxic polishing compound can't be goo...

I once tried a non-tunable Susato. Don't buy one. The very small bore is very quiet and you can't lean into it like the others. The large bore is no more, AFAIK. I can't entirely agree with this impression. I tried both tunable and non-tunable in the store, and found the non-tunable significantly m...

It's a bit of both for me. While I initially learned (or at least tried) Larsen's approach, there are times (many that is) when another finger just wants to go for it, and I find it best to just let it go. A crisp cut (even if perhaps not with the best tone) is still better than a sloppy cut with th...

I think the Delrin is a very nice addition to David's offering. He says that it sounds very similarly to the blackwood, one of which I got from him recently. In my opinion, it is an exceptional whistle; I love it. Beautiful tonality, looks gorgeous, octaves are nicely balanced (the high notes are no...

How to play triplets of the same note?
I am wondering how to best play triplets of the same note: e.g. "(3AAA", "(3GGG" etc. in ABC notation. Since all 3 notes are to be played in a single 1/4 note time, do you play an accelerated roll (e.g. "(3A{B}A{G}A" ) or triple-tong it (ti-gi-di type of thing) ?

I am personally one of the few that doesn't particularly care for Burkes. Not that they're aren't good whistles, on the contrary, but I don't really like their tonality (at least the brass ones), find them top heavy and fingers holes feel funny to me for some reason. I don't know why I think it's a ...

So do I. I am seriously considering getting an MK Low D. I already have a Kerry Songbird Low D, which is very nice, but I'd like a tuneable whistle and the MK is a very attractive (look and sound) option. I also consider Sweetheart but it seems impossible to get a sound bite from it from anyone :-? ...
