I have to agree with Bill on the poster tac tweak. It improves the Mello D considerably. It's my favorite low priced whistle. I have several that I carry with me in the car , briefcase , etc. and they sound just fine. In a pince , I have even used them in performance. A couple of weeks ago , I was c...

Glad that you got your Rose , Dave. I'm convinced that you'll really enjoy it ! I'm the new owner of Steven's blackwood model ( Thanks Steve ! ) and I tend to agree with all of the statements that he made. It's a beautiful whistle with a great tone and no major quirkiness to deal with. Shortly after...

Geez Dave ! You mean that you've got it down to just one ? Seems like my entire repertoire goes flipping through my head on a pretty regular basis. Worst of all , I'll be softly whistling along to one of my favorites and not realize it . That practice alone tends to get you some really wierd l...

I tend to agree with anniemcu. I started out on the quest for the "Holy Grail of Whistledom". You know . that whistle that would have such a magical sound that you would instantly be swept away to some whistling Nirvana. In the attempt , I bought and played a lot of whistles. In addition t...

I've used pistol cases , drum stick bags , and various soft cases ( including a custom roll-up made for me , as a gift , by my pastor's wife ). Most of the time , I use the drumstick bag for playing out. It will hold a lot of whistles , has sewn on handles , and even a nice carrying strap for slingi...

Well , I'm the lead performer for a praise team that visits nursing homes in my area. That means that I have an entire group of wheelchair- bound seniors that couldn't get away , even if they would like to. Lord only knows the agony I may be causing them !! Oh , the humanities !! Have a Great Day an...

I believe that Jerry makes nice C whistles from Mellow Dog byproducts, but he uses them for the forces of good: kids, charity, etc. Daniel B might make you a tripple-fipple high G for the dark side! Triple Fipple? It actually makes three seperate sounds!? :-? Its a joke, man! An exageration. <<grin...

I couldn't agree with you more , Annie. The current feed back system holds the buyer "hostage" to bad or unscrupulous sellers. Not everyone bothers to research sales histories and lots of folks are simply turned-off by bad feedback ratings .... regardless of the reasons ! Have a Great Day ...

Kingfisher, Would you mind letting us know when this arrives? Though the product lists as coming from your state, the item actually ships from Sonoma, CA where the person lives. If you look, there are folks who have left positive feeback recently for this item. It's hard to see why, expect that the...

Do I ever get tunes confused ? Up to and including today , I'd have to say that was a major ....... YES !!! The real killer is to be in the middle of a performance and forget the tune that you're supposed to play. Nothing quite like standing in front of a group of people , with a piece of pipe in yo...

I have the D/C set in aluminum and a lovely C made from Lancewood. The lancewood is more focused and clearer than the aluminum. I use the C tube , almost exclusively, on the aluminum. It's just much nicer , IMO , than the D. :)

This thread really intrigues me !!! Like most of us , I've heard some really bad things about Susato whistles and I hadn't purchased one , until recently. I own a lot of high-end whistles but , my most recent purchase included a Susato A. I was a bit astounded at the quality of the sound that came o...

First , Tina , welcome to C&F and I hope you enjoy your stay ! The difference applies mostly to the stability of your grasp on the whistle. A number of players rest their pinkie below the bell note ( bottom hole ) to help stabilize or keep from dropping the whistle. Where it doesn't effect the n...
