Re: Free Flute CD Pat FitzpatricK/Ken Murphy/Eamonn de Barra
So you're new to ITM? True, much of this is very much on the faster side, and I for one prefer things slower. But the speed on these recordings is far from uncommon. Who "supposes" that flute playing is supposed to be relaxing anyway? I get annoyed with myself when people say things after ...

Re: Free Flute CD Pat FitzpatricK/Ken Murphy/Eamonn de Barra
Was there something wrong with the Cd or Cd player or whatever?? the flute playing was good but it seems way way too fast for any normal person to enjoy. flute playing is supposed to get us in a state of relaxation, not in a state like we had finished a gallon of coffee.

Re: Michael Flatley
Anybody here that is a supporter of, or has any liking for traditional Irish music and dance, knows quite well that Michael Flatley is one of the very few that has brought attention to Irish music and dance on the world-stage, to countries throughout the world who never knew that this type of music ...

Re: Another R&R on ebay.uk
Hi, Some of us don't stand much chance to be the high bidder on ebay when you are up against people who are bidding for Mr Fatlow, If the flute is a Rudall & Rose, or a Rudall Carte and is in prestine condition, then Mr Fatlow likes those flutes, and always remember Mr Fatlow is not concerned ab...

I have never needed anybody, and over the years I have come across a few thick--headed trouble maker's at both side's of the pond, Glinjack doesn't look for trouble, but if trouble find's him he's got a great pair of hand's, and not just for flute playing.

Re: Ebay- boosey and Hawkes flute in the key of E ?????
Hi,
Those flutes were mass-produced back then for the army bands, and were made to play in unusual keys, when I was dealing in flutes back some years ago, I picked up a cardboard box full of those flutes in Leed's, Took quite a long time to get rid of them as they were in those odd keys.

Hi,
I play a Grinter 8 key Rosewood flute at most all sessions. On special occasions I play a boxwood Rudall & Rose. and a Hawkes & Son Eb cocswood flute.

Re: Glinjacks Rudall & Rose
Hi Jim, bout the 2 head joints. it was probably a choice when ordering a flute from the company as to whether you wanted the regular or the patent head, and of course there was also the choice of getting both, and Richard Woodward decided he wanted both in the fitted case which is original, both, th...

Re: A few interesting old flutes
Jon this Rudall stayed in the UK for many years, until I became the owner about eight years ago, so its new home is here in Putnam county, NY. The flute was specially made for Richard Woodward, who was a Scientist and Engineer, On checking this flute a couple of years ago with a magnifying glass for...

Re: A few interesting old flutes
Jon the serial # on that RR is 3508, the interesting aspect about that flute is that there are no repairs whatsoever on it, its just like when it left the RR shop in 1835--37. A great playing flute with lovely tone, can play with as much power as you want it to, I have been playing it quite a lot th...

Re: A few interesting old flutes
Hi Jon, I always keep a bit of firewood on hand, and coming up towards the winter I may need it. I think the Boxwood Rudall would burn too fast and give off no great heat.
Yes John Pfaff flutes have lovely key work, and also great tone even with the small tone-holes
All the best.
John.
