Somebody who is spending that much time typing has to be sacrificing a lot of time. So unless Avery has dropped out of school or is an insomniac, he can't be doing much playing which is how one truly learns about music. I agree. We should all just shut up and listen and play. Isn't that why we're a...

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert. I wouldn't go with a used Gemeinhardt 2SP. Those are some of the lowest quality student flutes that are generally abused horribly by 5th graders. A new one would probably be okay. My best advice, have a professional flutist check it over whatever you end up buying befo...

I definately feel the same frustration, Sliabh Luachra. Kinda makes you want to strange the ignorant fiddlers... I propose a worldwide holiday where we educate the naive masses about Irish music. Get rid of the thinking that Danny Boy is the only acceptible song to play on St. Patrick's Day....

It could be that moisture of some sort of moisture (whether you believe it is spit or condensation) is getting built up in the windway. That happens to me a lot. If you blow through it to clear out the moisture, it might get better for a while. If clearing out the moisture does help, then you need t...

If I remember Danner is a couple years younger than I (and I am 17). So I doubt he wants to buy multiple Flutes. Avery's right on that one. Jon C. doesn't have a website, right? Thanks for all the imput everyone. I'm thinking that I'm between a Burns and a Copely at this point, but I haven't gotten...

Reccomended Listening
My birthday's coming up, and my family's really nice about tring to get me nice things. But they don't really know what I want. What CD's should I ask for? Here's what I like, listen to, etc. 1. Flook 2. Lunasa 3. Gaelic Storm 4. Silly Wizard 5. Feadoga Stain (I have #2 because #1 was out of stock w...

Yet another: In Search of a Flute
I know we're all annoyed by these sorts of posts, but getting opinions from others is always good. So, help me please. Okay, here's what I want: a. Wood (I've tried polymer, but I really can't stand the feel) b. Less than or around $1000 c. A flute that will last me a long time (one I won't "gr...

Need some flute buying advice...
I haven't been on here for a while because I've been so busy. Anyway, I may have finally convinced my mom (who could convince my dad) to help me pay for a real Irish flute. I've looked at lots of options for flute, but still have no clue what would really be best to get. (I know we all hate this que...

Almost all of the trad players I know either: 1. don't play in any particular style or 2. play in their own style that is similar to a regional style. I listen to East Galway style a lot and really like it. My own style has many of its features, but isn't really East Galway. It's the style I'm natur...

Thanks! I kinda thought that I'd probably outgrow it pretty fast. I've only played it for an hour this morning, and I wouldn't mind playing a concert on this flute right now. I was thinking about traveling, but whistles would do nicely on a camping trip. The more I think about it, the more I'm wanti...
