Re: Who do you know playing Wooff sets ?

For me it' s not so important how many pipes Mr Wooff makes on a year. As said before making pipes like this takes a lot of time. So I can imagine that Mr Wooff his pipes what he make nowadays take more time than before. But I concern more to the pipes what are made and not being played at all As I ...

Fiddlers in B

Hi All, I noticed it' s very hard to find a fiddle player in my regions and expecially to play with a B set of uilleann pipes. So now my question: are there any adjustments in tunning what makes it more comfortable to play the fiddle to play in B major/ mix, c# min, E major, f# min and G# min? Patrick

Re: Adding Regs Advice?

If it was my set it just add the regulators to it. But all depends on the quality of the regulators. I don't like seeing good pipes as a investment, they should be played.
Who will make your regulators?

Re: FS: Keyed cocus/gold Olwell Pratten

I am not the least bit offended, Bogman, I totally agree with you. Although I did not become proficient at all in this short time, I did get an inkling of what magical sounds a flute like this is capable of producing in the right hands. Happily, some of my efforts of yore went into trying to learn ...

Re: What note does your bass drone play without the top on?

Hi Andy, I was asking myself why you want to know this? Is it for tunning the bas to G with a side hole in the bastop? Dave Williams made a few sets with drones what were able to tune to E. But personally I think standard tunning is still superiour as I think the quality of the dronesound will lose ...

Re: Ebay items

If you guys don't stop mentioning the giant drone switch, the makers of these pipes are eventually going to catch on and start making smaller drone switches. Then we wont be able to tell them apart from reputable makers!!! I don' t see this as any issue. If they change it , it' s a tiny step forwar...

Re: Is this a record?

One thing I,ve never heard of is a pipemaker offering transparency when it comes to their priceing system .Most artisans of one form or another will break down their charge into cost of materials, labour costs and so on ,but pipemakers just slap on the price tag and you take it or leave it .Its espe...

Re: speed

In fact, this is a good topic. Speed , (high speed tempo) is a big problem in Irish music.
To make nice music, a right flow and ritme is the answer in this, I guess.

Re: How would you make reeds louder?

Just a quick question for the reedmakers- Supposing you've got your reedmaking down so you're getting good tone/tuning most of the time - so you're happy with your basic dimensions for your head and staple - What would you change to make the reeds louder? I don't really want to just open the reed. ...
