When I expressed an interest in playing at the local session, the mandolin player told me they could really do with a piper, as they had all the other instruments.

Will there be tea? and perhaps a sticky bun (or 2) Tea and coffee will be available from the bar at 8pm. Prior to that we have access to a kitchenette with full catering facilities and a microwave. The Chairman says we can even cook dinner if we want, although he is keen to improve bar takin...

Ben, it would be great if you could make it, it will give you a chance to get used to seeing groups of pipers with slack jaws and tongues hanging out. Teirw, thanks, I'll look forward to seeing you and hearing your new c# chanter. Not wanting to take all the credit and/or blame, Jim Horan and Terry ...

Happy New Year

Sometimes this forum can be way too sharp and only bordering on being helpful.

You will probably get some advice when one of the reed experts reads your post.

Is this still the Gremlin set?

That may be useful information.

Joseph.
This sort of stuff does not deserve dissemination of any kind, so let's just say it's a good job Ron Atkinson hasn't taken up the pipes to fill all his free time.

My apologies, confused by time zones.

If the moderators are all still in bed would it be possible to have some based on different continents to at least attempt a quick response?

Policing this ourselves will be effective as I am sure we are all equally outraged by this sort of stuff, but could this be coupled with a quick response from the moderators.

I note the thread is still up a day after it began.

I quite like how the stop key is at the back allowing you to cut in and out on a d rather than a c#.

Is that one of Brian's ideas?

Now I could have this the wrong way round (maybe any pipemakers could help out) but I recall being told once that the although hole size and position will change pitch in the expected manner; bigger-sharper and higher up the chanter-sharper, the position has a bigger effect in the lower octave and t...

I've not used one for years and have forgotten what differences may occur.

I have been considering using one again, to check if there are any noticable benefits

A certain degree of ribbing will undoutably occur at the local session the first time it appears.

Uilliam, I have no antipathy to you, my interpretation was that you were picking on me. Maybe my defence was over zealous. Yes, let's agree to stop any sniping. We are probably bound to meet at some piping do somewhere and I would rather it would be a happy event than a bad one. I'm off to the Jolly...
