FS: Rochelle Anglo C/G Concertina SOLD
Selling my Rochelle Anglo C/G I got from Bob Tedrow last year. Strapped for cash and I need to get through my last couple of months of grad school. It's a decent, and very affordable, beginner's instrument and has served me well. It hasn't gotten much use in the past eight months or so since I've ha...

Yes Kinch, please elaborate on that fix. I'm having a similar issue with the g key on my tenor reg and would love to remedy it.

more pics of the rest of the set would be helpful. 18" is somewhere between B and B flat with the ideal pitch closer to B flat.

Re: How do you like your e's?
Personally I love playing flat-pitched pipes. The breadth of options regarding different tones for every note are what it's all about. Concert pitch chanters that can come close to flat chanters in this regard are exquisite specimens IMHO. In light of this and my own personal opinion (which by no me...

Re: Scalloped Chanter
The is a difference between scalloping and undercutting for tuning. Undercutting changes the overall pitch a small amount, while scalloping can more extensively flatten the overall chanter pitch. This is due to a reduction in the internal (bore) volume of the chanter by reducing the chimney heights...

Re: Scalloped Chanter
Scalloping a chanter is not necessary. The same tuning can be achieved through undercutting the tone holes. Some might argue that scalloping provides a brighter tone to the chanter. I have heard the same brightness achieved in chanters that were not scalloped. In certain cases, it can be helpful. Fo...

Re: D bits
What I've seen done on boxwood to fast forward through a bulk of the warping is to steam the billets. This is accomplished by wrapping the billets in plastic, taping the whole lash-up so it won't leak, wrapping it in something that won't melt or burn, then throwing it in the oven at a lower temp for...

Re: D bits
The bigger the drill bit, the slower the speed on the lathe. The only long boring I did with a twist drill was for mainstocks, and that had to be on the slower side of things. A tiny bit of beeswax on the tip of the drill will help keep it cool also. Take your time, keep the bit from getting too hot...

okay. I just thought the "curly" referred to the figure of the wood and not the species.
