Well if he has'nt made regulators before that might be the problem, :wink: for the delay, making good regs can test a pipemaker, not as easy as one might think, :really: getting them playing right in key. all the best.

Hi Sam, I have seen two or three pipemakers working with a metalwork lathe and they don't use a side rest, they use a cutting tool in the tool post, :-? as I have mentioned before Sam were not making parts for NASA, were turning wood here, my converted Record CL0 woodturning lathe is more than sturd...

John! you don't need a metal work lathe to make a good reamer :-? you just need to know what you are doing. :wink: The metal lathe owners may have it, it certainly dos not mean that the best pipes are made on them tho, its a pretty sad state of affairs when wood has to be turned on a metal work lath...

I find Metall schulz a little on the expensive side Chris, :sniffle: I bought one meter X 10mm x 1mm wall thickness of nickle silver tubing, cost around £90 with the postage, very expensive,£30 a foot, there nickle silver tubing would be much better with a 0.75mm or 0.80mm wall thickness, much less ...

Not all uilleann ferrules are conical, :really: but cylindrical tube can be made conical, very quickly, :wink: it all depends who's working the tools.all the best.

Well said nemethmik, :wink: at last, that is my exact point, don't waist any money on fancy decoration till you have had time to learn or play the chanter you have bought for a period of time, only a good sounding playable chanter with as good as sounding set, deserves any fancy decoration, if any i...
