Re: What am I?

Yep, it's a whistle that's not a whistle and a flute that's not a flute and in C that's not in C. I had one that came with some others in a trade and stood on a stand with whistles for a few years then sold to some lucky person who may have buried it. On mine the fipple was loose and could be moved ...

FS: Vintage tenor banjo tuned Irish

I am ready to part with my restored antique short scale banjo from about the time of WWI. I don't know if it saw action but it did have a ship painted on the original head and had been exposed to hard use. It's in great shape and playability now. The price will be in the $600 range with shipping cos...

Re: Cheap, (yet loud and good) low D or low F recommendations?

I mention Shaw because I had a chance to repair a low D once and it was loud by my experience. It wasn't anything I did to make it so. Probably not a good recommendation from the "quiet guy".
They are fairly inexpensive and definitely are a tin whistle in looks and feel.

Continued Propaganda. It's a new month but the same subject so this just a synopsis or something similar. The price list has been adjusted. http://praisewhistlers.org/mackhooverwhistles/MackHooverWhistles.html The old pictures and details removed. They will be replaced with new ones that better repr...

Re: Playing a C on a D

Hey, I'm a beginner. What's the preferred fingering out there for playing a C natural on D whistle? Is it 000xx0? Or does half-holing producer a better note? I'm playing a tweaked Clark original and a Jerry Freeman Blackbird. And sometimes the C nats sound a little off playing 000xx0. I'm working o...

Mack: You are not old. Neither am I. Well… The arthritis? Yeah. Best. Byll 79 1/3 is not old? Here's a question - do you actually get to keep any whistle you have made? I keep the ones that I am embarrassed to sell but not ashamed to play. Visitors to my shop usually latch onto them since you can't...

Re: The perfect NAF and whistle hybrid??

I am a native American and make Irish tin whistles. I'm not a tribal Native American, but a hybrid with many diverse ancestors, but I was born in America. When I think NAF I think haunting pentatonic, peace pipes and burying the hatchet. In Yosemite I met the native American and traded one of my whi...

Re: Marking Alu Tubes?

I see something wonderfully ironic in this thread. Big bucks and euros for hand made penny whistles also known as tin whistles out of aluminum using power machines by Brits in Germany, Germans in Scotland, Americans of all mixes using wood, plastic, bamboo, cane and who knows what else and who else ...

Re: Marking Alu Tubes?

The first whistle I signed, numbered and labeled with the key was aluminum and was with a small rotary tool. That was in '98. I use the same tool on every whistle regardless of material. I have had complaints on every other aspect of my whistles but am still waiting for one on my signing technique. ...

"other cheesy whistle-marketing possibilities" Looking over five years of Fead'doggery with a glance I thought I'd give my two cents a chance. First I can never get the ' to attach ( what's the catch?). I have found Whitecaps and Feado'gs a reasonable match. They are usually cheaper than a...

The next step in your recovery:
Do what you are doing but use flutomat six hole configuration
And voila a diatonic whistle with two octaves aka " little flute"

Or you can go on longing for a free OZ...
