Re: Playing for Scottish Country Dancers Tune key question

Here’s what I would do. For instance your first tune is Eb. So I found the abc for it. I used a abc transposer to take it to D but there were some low notes so instead I put it into G. So using a Bb whistle but playing G fingering you will be in tune with the fiddlers. X:1 T:Mrs. Captain Skene’s Str...

Re: RIP Alex Green, Scottish whistle player

Recently found a nice Scottish Recording called Nimble Fingers with Alex, Gordon Duncan and others.
I really like his whistle version of Our Highland Queen on this recording.

Re: 1946 film footage of a (Belfast-area?) piper

The pipes do look O’Mealy. The chanter looks like the one that was auctioned recently.
The piper doesn’t look like O’Mealy though sure sounds like him in the soundtrack.

Courier for pipes

Can someone recommend a courier for pipes?
For UK mainland

I used to use Parcel Force but the fine print won’t allow compensation over 100 quid.

Re: Figured boxwood Solen Lesouef flute FS

The cork came off at some point. I prefer thread myself so just replaced with that.
It’s a lovely flute and I’ll regret selling it but another instrument is calling.

Re: Any recomendations for old tune collections?

All the tunes in both volumes are on their digital collection for free.
You could print them all out and have them bound at a copy place.
But it really is nice to see money go to them for the great work they are doing ?

Figured boxwood Solen Lesouef flute FS

Hi Folks, I have a beautiful boxwood and silver unlined Solef Lesouef flute for sale. One of the best modern keyless flutes I’ve owned. Looking for 660 pounds plus shipping on account of the beautiful flame figured wood. I asked Solen to make me a flute like this and she said she didn’t have any box...

Re: A few questions from a composer new to Uilleann Pipes

Flat chanters generally don’t have a clear Eb like the large holed concerts. That’s why you see a key for that note on some of them but Rowsome left if off his four keyed chanters. The ghost d is essentially what I get on my flat chanter. On a concert chanter it’s a difference of pressure I think. h...
