Re: Long time away
I think I will be joining you guys again. My first post was in 2004, but after suffering some nerve damage in my hands due to being assaulted by the horrors of necrotizing fasciitis, I gave up music about 8 years ago. Sold the pipes, sold my Hammy, and was forced to cancel my order with Makoto Nakat...

I haven't posted here in a long while, but I had to pay my respects to the great Paddy Moloney.

Re: Lemon wood for uilleann pipes
A long time since I posted here.
David Boisvert made me a 4-drone C half set from curly lemonwood many years ago.
It looked and sounded amazing.
I wonder where it is now.

Re: Peter Hunter
Very sad news. My first chanter was from Peter - back in 1991. My neighbour was Bill Bohill, a Northumbrian pipe maker, and he knew Peter. He contacted him and I got a lignum D stick for me. I sold it to Makoto Nakatsui a few years back. He said he had taken measurements from it for his chanters. Al...

Re: Nakatsui Pipes
I'm starting to plan another foray into uilleann piping, and noticed some rather nice Youtube videos featuring a set of pipes by Makoto Nakatsui.... anybody have experience with these? The sound seems pretty solid. Anyone? Makoto was making me a B 3/4 set until I had to cancel it due to illness. So...

Re: WTB: B chanter
I will be selling my B stick soon (and all of my other chanters and drones etc.) It's a Kennedy B in ebony with boxwood mounts. The reed cap was made by David Boisvert. It was owned by Chiff's ex-moderator, Joe Smith. You can probably see some pictures floating around on the site somewhere. I picked...

Re: FS: Hammy unkeyed
Thanks for the interest.
The flutes were sold to a Chiffer in Japan.
Sad to seen them go, but life moves on.
Onward and upward.

FS Hammy Unkeyed Flute with free Dixon Flute.
Due to some health issues I am forced to end my 24 year playing relationship with Irish trad. A sad thing, but I have decided to put my energies into some other things. I was in hospital for a month earlier this year, and I was hoping to still play when I came out, but it has proved more difficult t...

Re: Finger Bounce
I always found it easier to get the bounce by bringing the joint of the finger down on the hole rather than the pad.
You can hear Mikey doing it a lot in this vid.

Personally I like to hear more notes played straight.
Mikey and Sean obviously don't.

Re: Piping ups and downs.
Moving to Japan in 1996 has affected my piping so much. When I first came there was only a couple of other pipers in Japan, so it went from regular uilleann sessions at Morpeth Bagpipe Museum to nothing. Also the Japanese weather has been pretty hard on the reeds. I have lost faith quite a few times...

Hammy Flute Dimensions
I was wondering if somebody would be kind enough to measure an unkeyed Hammy D flute (Length & Depth.) I am looking around for a new case for my Hammy, but I am currently in hospital so I can't measure it myself. I have a couple of case candidates but I need some measurements before I can proceed.
