In reply to your question Boyd, yes, the week long summer school is in the :boggle: City of Durham just a few miles away from me and I am still sorely tempted. I went last year when our two whistle instructors were Niall Keegan and Sarah Allen (Flook), great week despite the downpours.

Adrian, for a bloke from England you seem to have overlooked the grand selection of Scottish and indeed Northumbrian music. Go to the google website and search for 'Northumbrian tunes'. Pete Loud has a nice collection and there's oodles of sheet music for you. Best of British!

I have a Generation 'C' and it sounds just fine. Nice and easy to play, Easy to get hold of one up in the borders, Galashiels perhaps, plenty in Newcastle. Try one.

if you are coming to England, you must come to Northumbria, the land of castles and good beer. A good base is Newcastle or Durham city. There's too much to see, but if its history, then start with Durham Cathedral, nearly a thousand years old and still in use. Castles, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Durham can'...

I have recently had the pleasure of a summer school with Niall Keegan, of the World Music Centre at the University of Limerick, who was teaching us. He's one of the big boys at the university. There's a possibility that he may be able to steer you in the right direction. Look up the university web s...
