The original Feadog with the brass tube was my first whistle. I liked the sound of it in the first octave, but couldn't play the second from high G on up without really sounding horrible. That was almost two years ago now. I moved on to other whistles, but recently got out the Feadog and did the blu...

I agree. I thnk most people very quickly just associate the dots with finger positions on the whistle. There really aren't that many to choose from on a whistle anyway compared to other instruments. :-) I very quickly just see finger patterns when I'm reading a tune, and that helps to memorize it. Bob

What version of the Adobe Reader are you using? I'm using version 6.0 under Windows XP and the music looks normal to me.

Does this require a special font? I see the Maestro font in the PDF files, but I don't see anything special installed on my machine for that.

Most of the ones I found do have a midi file you can download. Here's an example: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/soundfi ... 1_3692.mid

I've had a Susato standard bore D for a while, but never really played it much. After getting more experience playing a another whistle with more back pressure as well as playing the flute, my breath control is much better, and I find that I'm liking the Susato more and more. It works well in the la...

Thanks to everyone for your PMs and emails. I've decided to have Jon C. make a delrin Pratten with a two-piece body.

Now, this will be my Christmas present. Any ideas on how to convince my wife I still need to break-in a delrin flute so she will let me have it before Christmas? :D

FS: Burke DAN whistle - SOLD

This is a high D narrow bore aluminum Burke whistle. I got it last year for Christmas and ordered it directly from Michael Burke. It's in very good condition. Reason for selling: I'm working mostly on flute, so I don't play it much. Price: $100 including shipping in the U.S. Send PM or email if inte...

This is something I have considered. How do Jon C's Prattens compare with a Seery? The only Pratten I've had a chance to play is a friend's Hammy.

Jon C., can you make a Pratten model with a two-piece body? It's nice to have this flexibility in making the flute easier to hold.

WTB: Seery Delrin Flute - RESOLVED

Anyone have a spare one around they would be willing to sell? I need a flute I can play at longer sessions and outdoors without having to worry about the low humidity here in Arizona.

Please PM or email me if you have one to sell.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: To Congragulations

I believe the main problem (and one of the evil causes of WhOA) is that whistles sound very different up close and alone, compared to further away and blended with other instruments. How many people have said they hate Susatos, but then they heard them in a pub or party or whatever and they sounded...
