My Website Is Gone, But I'm Still Here

With the loss of my current job coming in the near future, I've been cutting down on expenditures. I'll be canceling my Charter Internet service within the next couple of weeks, so I have gone ahead and emptied my Web directory. Right now the address still exists, but soon it should be completely go...

My Midlife Crisis

I've long been unhappy with my job, which has taken a toll on me both emotionally and physically. All the mandatory overtime hours of the past few years have made things that much worse, but the end is now in sight: Philips "Best Plant" Slated to Close in Sparta . I'm really not sure how I...

I've only made a few, but all that have left my shop had C# engraved on the tube.

Re: Whistle head for flute

I've tried my hand at making an Eklute style mouthpiece for a Boehm flute, but didn't have much luck with it. A Boehm flute has a very narrow bore and a larger range of notes in comparison to a whistle, which makes it practically impossible to use with a fixed embouchure mouthpiece. At best, the low...

Re: Where is a good place to buy delrin for making a whistle?

I would recommend Online Metals, Small Parts, or Industrial Plastic Supply.
Lots of online vendors stock acetal rod, but these are three that I have always received quality products and service from.

Re: Methods of shaping the beak on the fipple of a whistle?

I use a method very similar to what is demonstrated on the Alba Whistles website.
The only difference is that my mill is set up vertical instead of horizontal, and I first remove most of the material with a hole saw instead of cutting a 45 degree angle.

Just Checking In... I'm Still Alive!

I've had some phone calls and e-mails from acquaintances who were concerned about my lack of communication, so I'm writing to assure everyone that I'm still alive and in good health. I'm touched that people would be worried about me, and I apologize for not keeping in contact with the whistle commun...

Re: Geek help please: address book hijacked

Same thing happened to my Hotmail address book a couple of months ago. Something was actually using my Hotmail account to send Spam e-mails to everyone in my address book, and not just doing the common trick of spoofing my address to send e-mails to random recipients. I never did find any type of in...

Re: Repealing of the licensing laws

I have all the Pogues studio albums and a fair amount of bootlegs, and can't recall ever hearing a didgeridoo on a single track.
Am I losing my memory or going deaf? :P

Re: Repealing of the licensing laws

Sorry I can't be of any help in locating sheet music for the tune, but it shouldn't be difficult for you to learn it by ear with a little nudge in the right direction. With a high D whistle, start out on the 2nd octave G and go all the way up to the 3rd octave E... and be careful not to damage your ...

Re: O'riordan delrin head

I have an O'Riordan low D, and the mouthpiece is made of black ABS plastic.
There is a good degree of hand carving necessary with Pat's design, and Delrin is just too tough to be a good choice of materials for a design that isn't mostly machined.
