Re: Best flute options for beginners

Not the whole story when you need to keep them adequately hydrated as well and neither oiling nor hydration in isolation is likely to give your flute everything it needs. Oil to protect the bore surface (and outside too if you like), but hydrate ...

Yeah, but it's really hard to get those cyclists to stop long enough for your to cut a new band when you need one.Ceann Cromtha wrote:The best rubber bands I've ever used I've made by cutting an appropriate section out of a bicycle tire inner tube.

Re: Looking to buy full or 3/4 set
You do realize that a pretty high percentage of the sets on uilleannobsession are located in the EU, don't you? There are plenty of sets here: http://www.uilleannobsession.com/classifieds.html Too true PJ, but buying from outside the EU has a downside - 20% plus mark up due to import taxes and VAT -...

Thanks, I'd love to. Need to see what my schedule and budget looks like before then. I've meant to go to O'Flaherty for several years, but always had time conflicts. Maybe this year.

Re: Joe Kennedy Narrow Bore D
Just thought that I'd update this to say that I got the practice set on March 29th, and have been happily annoying the whole family with it since. The good news is that my wife says that I "don't sound nearly as bad as I thought you would." The bad news is that I have to put our cat Carley...

Hey Gregory,
It's in shipping land. Has left San Antonio, and is scheduled for Sunday Delivery tomorrow. I still have a hard time believing that USPS is doing some Sunday deliveries.

Re: Joe Kennedy Narrow Bore D
Hi Ferg, It's more of a budget chanter. the mounts are made along with the rest of it, instead of using contrasting wood. It's actually already made, and only wants the bag to be ready to send my way. It's cherry with all key blocks and a c key. I ordered it on Feb. 14, but he said that I caught him...

Thanks Ferg. That's a fine looking chanter, and it's good to hear the sound clip, too. I went ahead and ordered one from Joe last month.

Sorry Hildegard. Sometimes I just can't help myself. :D That IS a nice sounding chanter, and a lovely tune. T...
