Re: Christmas list help
Actually, I've got to get my family a Christmas list... a list of things I'd like to receive for Christmas. I'm pretty sure that the jet and that round-the-world cruise are both beyond the realm of possibility, so I thought that some good pipng cds might work. After Rory’s suggestion, however, i'm t...

Certainly the wisest counsel here.Julia Delaney wrote:You really don't need another flute.
You need to play what you've got.
However, if you just can't stand it, I'd say go for a C or Bb. I've got a Burns combo with C and Bb bodies in boxwood. Lovely flute, and a dream for the slower stuff.

Re: CP: pipes for sale
Tommy,
In the second picture, is that a single drone on the left chanter? if so, can you tell me a little more about that setup?
Thanks,
Dow

Re: Bore question.
Still not 100% sure what I want to do, and it'll have to wait on fundage, regardless, but I think that I'm getting closer. I don't think you'll be happy simply with a bargain NBD. I suspect that you're right there. A good quality one will likely cost you an arm and a leg. And that's the quandary we...

Re: Bore question.
Thanks for the Hunter link, Lorenzo. You're right, the two sound very different from each other. More to listen to, more to try to get inside of. Still not 100% sure what I want to do, and it'll have to wait on fundage, regardless, but I think that I'm getting closer. Edited koz i kant spel gud all ...

Re: Bore question.
if you want a chanter with flat pitch characteristics, then buy a flat pitch chanter. You might as well. Unless you want to play in D. You're not going to get the tone from a B chanter in a D chanter no matter what you do to bore. They still sound lovely, I think. http://youtu.be/HZySRKQVGCE If you...

Re: Bore question.
You may want to look at previous discussions, I remember Narrow Bore D examples but that's just one of many. I have done some searching, just thought I'd ask outright this time. There are just too many caveats and variables, not all pipes are created equally. Some makers will turn out a narrow bore...

Re: Bore question.
The différences are: the wide bore types will be less easy to control in the upper octave, have more Fundamental in the sound Spectrum and less Harmonic ( upper partial) strength. The Wide bores will have larger finger holes, louder notes but less control over the dynamics of the notes. The Narrow ...

Bore question.
Question from the uninformed:
What's the difference between wide and narrow bore chanters (other than the fact that one is wider than the other)?
Thanks.

Re: Looking for penny-chanter clips
I'm hoping to hear from some other folks who have them and have made recordings. Yours were a big help, and I appreciate your posting them for me.
