Siobhán Kennedy - Séid

New CD out, I just received it today:

Lovely CD by Siobhán Kennedy. Loads of flute playing, some whistle and a few songs.

Have a listen:

Great backing also by Jens Kommnick.

Aebi flute sound samples

Hi all, Last year I visited flute-maker Tom Aebi down in Basel. He recorded me trying out his new flute models. Some of these recordings are now on his website. There's also Siobhán Kennedy to be heard. Siobhan on the 2009 Rudall model: http://aebi-flutes.com/index.php/en/sounds/r-r-model-2009 Me on...

Re: Just got back from Aebi's workshop

Tom's flutes have always been top notch, and very distinctive. A friend of mine is a happy owner of his new 2011 model. I've tried it a few times and in my opinion it combines characterstics that I thought were practically impossible to combine. It has all the richness and the blast of a pratten typ...

Ooops, I'm getting private messages now that this thread was brought back to life. Please note that the dates above refer to last year, so I won't be in the US again this year, unfortunately. Now that I'm at it: You have to know Liney Bear to understand what he means by "hardly coaxing a squeak...

Re: FS: 4-keyed Hammy Hamilton Flute in D

Thank you Hammy! Isn't the internet great! I also e-mailed the seller: she ordered the flute directly from you and got it in 1988, so maybe it was the last rudall you ever made! I played it again today, and I have to say I'd love to see you making those again! I hope nobody buys this one for a while...

Re: FS: 4-keyed Hammy Hamilton Flute in D

I've never seen a Hammy rudall. Anybody else play one? How is the fingering? I confess I find his pratten a bit of a handful. Do these sound like rudalls, if I may ask that question. Or something 'beefier' in the bottom octave? Intriguing flute. Hi, I'm not too sure about the rudall Hammy thing. Th...

FS: 4-keyed Hammy Hamilton Flute in D

Hello, I'm selling a flute for a friend. It's an older Hammy, probably made in the 80s. It's rudall-based design, still quite loud and honky but also very light and easy to fill. It has a strong d. There is a little repaired crack in the barrel, but apart from that it's fine and it has passed the te...

Re: CP: Steffen Gabriel wooden flutes | FS: Rudalls in D

Ohhhh.... I consider myself very lucky to have tried out these flutes last Saturday. Spot on tuning, excellent workmanship and a embouchure cut which gives just the right blend of attack and smoothness. And Steffen is just starting! Scary....
