Heya,

If there are no "Overton" stamps on it, then it is not an Overton, Goldie or otherwise; it's probably a Kerry Pro from Phil Hardy. While I am very partial to Colin's work, I agree with what's already been said: If you like it, who cares what it is.

Heya,

Ok, I'll jump in. Currently I'm a tobaconist in the East Bay, but I plan to do something with my degree in Psychology from UCD, eventually.

Heya,

Anyone out there know where I could get ahold of Michael Flatley's old flute album? The few that show up on eBay go for insane amounts. Colin Goldie mentioned that someone on the board might know a store or someone who has a copy. Anyone...?

Heya, I disagree with much said above. I have a Brendan White bodhran purchased in Cork, Ireland, and a modified Waltons (I've been playing for several years mind you). A good bodhran really is determined by the way you want to play it. If you're looking to get a really large octave range out of you...

Heya, The sound is by far my favorite of any low D that I've played, which include Copeland, Kerry (Pro, special, gold, regular), Overton, Cook, Howard, O'Brian, Swain, my own design..... However, the ridiculous air requirement pretty much kills the desire to own one, for anything more than 20 bucks.

Heya,

I don't know if any of you noticed, but yesterday Michael Flatley's rare flute album sold for over $123 on an eBay auction!!! Yes, $123+ for a CD!!! And the winner: "dwiseone". Hmmmm, a little bit of hypocracy, eh Dale ;P

Heya,

Logistics nothing!! I would hope that our little group wouldn't have to worry about copyright infringement or anything. After all, unless the tunes are your creation, I don't think you can own a string of common pub tunes. I'd be willing to do the compiling. Who's up to contribute?

Heya, Hey everyone!! This just came to me as I was doing a bit of recording into my computer. Why doesn't the C&F board community put together a little compilation of tunes together, and produce a few CD's? This may sound like shooting for the moon, but why not? We don't have to get it published...

Heya, Yeah, they're somewhat similar. Keep in mind that Hardy's Chieftains are machine-made, so are almost all identical. Goldie makes every one completely by hand. I have had the pleasure of visiting his shop and absolutely falling in love with a low E, but for lack of a little something called mon...

Heya, I have played both, and have also had a few personal meetings with Colin himself. The O'Brians have a slight defecit in volume and tone body, but they're an absolute breeze to control. From my experience, Overtons vary greatly with regard to control and tone, depending on the whistle, or what ...

Heya, That Davy track was done with a low C BTW. I have a Bass Bb made by Colin, and it's quite a doozy! He actually sent me 2 and let me chose which I preferred; what a guy! I have found the biggest problem to be the wind requirements, not so much the holes. I have relatively small hands for a guy,...

Heya,

I have heard disturbing news that such a whistle is a standard Kerry made by Phil's group, the one that looks like a big generation. They're nice, but nowhere near the price he's asking. That's almost 200 dollars. I  at the idea.

Heya, I had the pleasure of playing many of Cillian's whistles in Ireland, as well as visiting him at his shop in Dingle. I must say that his high D was nice, but definitely not what I like in a whistle. It requires very precise wind control, and doesn't lend itself to be powered through. His low wh...
