Most people don't have a de-humidifier. They are handy in Chicago to dry out basements but, since Deep Tunnel, most basement don't flood.

They are the same size as humidifiers and they extract the water from the air and drop it into its collection area/pan.

We are not talking about turning the chanter into a chanter icicle. My front door is difficult to open in the summer for a few days every year when the high temp (100F) and high humidity (80%) jams it. We are just trying to lower the humidity and free it up.

I've always heard in the States that pipemakers would put a chanter or jammed stock in the fridge. Try it every 15 minutes till it frees up. I've also heard the freezer- just stick with it until it frees up trying every so often.
