Re: sales
And actually with mainstream CD sales dropping bigger folk releases are hitting the main charts, not necessarily in high positions, but easily competitive with other mainstream stuff none of us have ever heard of. There have been a fair few English & Scottish acts that have hit the UK chart in t...

If you're trying foxglove, bear in mind it is also poisonous - not I think in the same realm as others previously mentioned, but don't make soup out of it, chew fresh stems, etc.

Re: Brief, concise uilleann info
Somewhere, I think there's a PhD thesis lurking in the conflation of Irish and Scottish cultures internationally. As far as GHB bands go, most of them are playing tunes that fit (with or without violence ) and song airs - Garryowen, Wearing of the Green, Start of the County Down, and all this stuff....

Re: US Government Announces Ban on Elephant Ivory
While I can't begin to understand the mentality that finds it fun to shoot an elephant (speaking as someone who was a regular foxhunter in his youth), it is for the most part not an issue in conservation terms. In some parts of Africa, elephant populations are extremely healthy and the challenge is ...

Re: US Government Announces Ban on Elephant Ivory
Given the penalties likely to be on offer, I would suggest doing so is a bad idea. This is not like violating eBay's rules.
This has been the obvious direction of travel in US policy especially for a while.

Re: Central London (UK) pipers gathering
Just seeing my diary is filling up fast at the moment, don't suppose there's any chance of nailing down a date for another one of these (assuming there's an appetite for it?!)

Shepherd, by any chance?
I can believe it might be possible, but Geoff has it right...far more trouble than any time or money you'd save.

Re: Tuning for B chanter?
So i am wondering if I have my tuner set up correctly? I presume the transposition option is for transposing instruments, meaning an instrument where when you play a C you actually get a Bb (or Eb, or something else). You could set it to A, and you should then read everything out as if it were D wh...

Re: Forsythia Drone Reeds
Question...what are the biggest sizes you can get out of these branches? I'm curious about having a bash at using this stuff to make GHB drone reeds (which for the bass are typically about 10-12mm, about 100mm or so, I'd guess).

I guess it also depends on your needs. A touring musician needs to be prepared for anything in a way a local session musician does not.

Re: Shipping pipes overseas.
It's worth adding the amounts are quite often entirely random. I bought a set of GHB drone reeds from the US and paid duty but no VAT, for example....
